any constructive criticism welcome please

Original

So after 4 days and at least 70 layers of RAW photos, I finally got Wind re-edited (and why I've been skipping so much of my 365 lately). I'm not entirely sure about this one though. I feel I didn't really change too much, I actually kept going back to the original and trying to copy it for lots of things. If you don't know the reason I'm re-editing these to enter into a contest and the deadline is Wednesday. So if you have even the tiniest beef with anything please let me know so I can address the issue, I feel like I've been working on this too long to know what I even want it to look like. Soo I'm just putting this up here now to get your feed back.

Also let me know if there's any suggestions for Fire since I won't have time to go and rework it.

OK, I've edited the original image using the suggested crop. I couldn't clone out the jug in the foreground because there was too much detail behind it in the lady and the shelves so I've tried to make it a more subtle colour, not sure it's worked though, maybe it has too much of a blue halo.

I'm surprised I haven't done this sooner.

(Just ignore how much it looks like my Little Mac edit. :P #Matchstick4smash )

Also, Fant, is his hair supposed to be black or brown? I've seen it both ways many times. But it looks like you use black, so I went with that.

Although I edit every picture in some capacity, most of it is simply color editing and clean-up. It’s very rare that I will actually wipe out a massive element of the background in an effort to simplify the composition.

I was never completely happy with Praise Jebus, and so I decided to tackle a major edit to the picture before uploading it to RedBubble. Taking a look at the original, you’ll see that the background is compromised by a huge natural gas tank and a mass of stuff to the left that includes garbage bags and part of a canoe. I have always thought these elements detracted from the focal point of the picture.

So, I removed them all. The resulting edit is certainly better than I anticipated. I can’t simply chalk this up to the clone tool; in the end, I effectively painted a new fence in the bokeh.

I am certain purists will argue that the background elements gave the picture character and cemented it in the real world. But that’s the exact opposite of what I want out of this picture. I want it to look ethereal; I want the chipmunk to look like it’s embraced by light. And the garbage in the background shatters this completely.

As I mentioned, prints of this picture can now be purchased on RedBubble!

The right one is direct from my lab (when I scan in my Epson V800 I get similar results)

And the left one is the “edited” image.

I put some markers around because I don’t "edit" in that way :-)

it’s one layer of curves that correct the color casts from scan. And that really brings the image to life again. Then simple burn and doge on some places. That’s all!

I will follow up with the left version in full scale next week and also share some more images from that hike with the fantastic Hasselblad 903SWC.

This is a re-edit of a photo I took of Kathryn, I played around in photoshop until it looked vintage like. I'm not too sure how much I like it.
