Fair and pure in their shady nook,

Saving flora and fauna is essential for maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem. Here are some ways we can contribute to this cause:

Protect natural habitats: Natural habitats such as forests, wetlands, and grasslands are crucial for the survival of many species. We need to protect these habitats by preventing deforestation, preserving wetlands, and restoring degraded lands.

Reduce pollution: Pollution is a significant threat to flora and fauna. We can reduce pollution by using eco-friendly products, reducing the use of plastic, and properly disposing of waste.

Conserve water: Water is essential for the survival of plants and animals. We can conserve water by fixing leaky faucets, using water-efficient appliances, and reducing water usage.

Support sustainable agriculture: Agriculture practices such as monoculture and excessive use of pesticides can harm the environment. We can support sustainable agriculture by buying locally grown produce and supporting farmers who use sustainable practices.

Reduce carbon footprint: Climate change is a significant threat to flora and fauna. We can reduce our carbon footprint by using public transport, walking or cycling instead of driving, and reducing energy consumption at home.

Educate others: Educating others about the importance of flora and fauna conservation is crucial. We can raise awareness by sharing information on social media, volunteering at conservation organizations, and supporting conservation initiatives.

Zealandia's electric boat 'Ara Kawau' (translates to path of the shag), Wellington, New Zealand. This Duffy electric boat was manufactured by the company of the same name in the middle of the Mojave Desert, California. Originally used as a water taxi for the Auckland, New Zealand America's Cup challenge of 2003 where Zealandia took over ownership in 2005.

An interesting house in Ibstone, looks like it was built of wood, or were the tree trunks attached to the brickwork. Either Way it is eco friendly as the black will absorb heat, keeping heating bills in the winter low, bur then will it also be unbearably hot in the summer?

Day 3/365

Macro Monday - Cotton

These are face scrubbies that I crocheted. They are an eco friendly alternative to cotton pads for makeup removal. We are doing our best to avoid anything single use. HMM

365 weekly theme - Introduction:

I am a maker of various things. Mostly handmade greetings cards so expect to see some of those in my 365. I used to teach card making and scrapbooking to adults but now it's just a hobby.

I finally succumbed to joining the 365 today (my fourth). I managed a photo each day for three days and have set up a flat lay for tomorrow...piece of cake huh? ;)

Reasons for joining:

1. Eric www.flickr.com/photos/54515311@N00/ said I was crazy enough to do it.

2. On New Year's Day my osteopath posted on Instagram "Do something that scares you" Well, committing to a 365 is pretty scary!

3. I am hoping it will help with the return of my mojo

4. At least it's not a 366

5. I just want to do it

I think Flickr's sharpening, which is undoubtedly part of their resizing algorithm, causes some artifacts in particular cases, like slightly ragged diagonal lines as you can see here at low resolutions. Can't think of any other reason.

A tranquil forest scene with lush greenery, sunlight filtering through the trees, and a serene pond reflecting the natural beauty.

In the heart of Villa Verde, a community dedicated to conservation at the gateway to Celaque National Park, I encountered the White-eared Hummingbird (Basilinna leucotis). This image captures the essence of avian life in Gracias, Lempira, Honduras—a testament to the region's rich biodiversity. With the sunlight accentuating the hummingbird's vibrant green plumage and the intricate feather details, the photograph is a study in the balance of light and shadow, showcasing the bird in a moment of stillness against the dynamic backdrop of its natural habitat.

From a technical standpoint, this shot was a pursuit of precision. It required patience and a deep understanding of the bird's behaviors. The challenge was to align the bird within the frame to highlight its interaction with the environment without compromising on sharpness and exposure. It’s a piece that speaks to fellow photographers about the interplay between subject and environment, and the relentless pursuit of that perfect moment. As we share these glimpses into the natural world, may we also share the responsibility to protect it.

We’ve been taking steps to impact the earth less and minimize our waste, such as reducing our plastic use and purchasing less. One thing I’ve been wanting to do for a while is to start composting again (we weren’t very successful with it several years ago), and after researching it for a while, we finally started. The bin works great for this environment because we tend to get a lot of dampness & humidity here. Plus, it’s made from untreated cedar instead of plastic. The pail is for keeping on our kitchen counter and is perfect, complete with a filter to keep the smells in the pail.

Capturing the essence of avian grace, the Black-collared Hawk, Busarellus nigricollis, stands as a regal presence against the lush backdrop of Lagos Yaguacaca in Leticia, Colombia. This raptor’s striking orange plumage, set off by the subtle dark collar from which it gets its name, exudes a sense of calm sovereignty over its wetland realm. The contrast of its pale head and the deep rufous of its body is a visual treat, emblematic of the vibrant biodiversity that thrives in this Amazonian habitat.

As a photographer dedicated to the art of bird photography, this image holds a special place in my portfolio. It represents not just the beauty of the species, but also the tranquility and balance of their natural environment. The hawk's intense gaze and poised demeanor were captured using a patient, unobtrusive approach, ensuring that the majesty of the moment was preserved without disturbance. Through my lens, I strive to share these intimate glimpses of nature, highlighting the importance of conservation and the profound connection between wildlife and their habitats.

I sort of think she might have to wait 'til we're in Spain to wear this skirt.

Making Wood look good!

This is one of my favorite hats, and one of my signature "rockstar" items. Only very special pieces get my "rockstar" designation. These are items that I imagine would be worn by the lavish hedonistic rockstars of the romantic steam powered era, if there had ever been such a thing. So, if you've packed your steam-powered guitar and are heading out on a time-traveling trip, this is the cap to pack!

It just oozes charisma and neo-victorian rockstar elegance. Made from eco-friendly cotton canvas, this newsboy style hat is a dark olive green, and fully lined with black cotton. The hat is fitted with a super-comfortable elastic band on the inside brim, so the hat fits a wide range of adult heads. Made with ultra-durable construction, and a high quality brim.

This stunning hat is adorned with three striped natural brown cruelty-free pinion feathers. The feathers are accented at the base with a dark tea-colored braided rope applique and an antique star pendant. The decorated portion of the brim is made from a subtly fantastic diamond print ribbon in olive green and antique gold colors, with a slight metallic sheen. This ribbon is framed on the top and bottom with braided antique gold wire ribbon. The texture effect is really cool and gives the hat and added level of super-fantastic-awesomeness.

I am currently working on a line of steampunk style decorated newsboy hats. If you are interested in a custom creation of your very own, let's talk! I would love to hear your ideas!

These are interesting looking cactus plant.

This Blue-and yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna) seen holding a fruit in his left claw, and peeling the shell off a seed with the other claw and its beak. The shell can be seen falling away...or maybe its a butterfly!

By 1970 this bird was extirpated locally but a reintroduction programme is underway in Nariva, East Trinidad.

This bird is absent from Tobago.

Forgive me for not mapping it...!

Cheonggyecheon (Hangul: 청계천) is a 10.9-kilometre-long (6.8 mi), modern public recreation space in downtown Seoul, South Korea. The massive urban renewal project is on the site of a stream that flowed before the rapid post-war economic development caused it to be covered by transportation infrastructure. The $900 million project initially attracted much public criticism but, after opening in 2005, has become popular among residents and tourists.
