Proterra EcoRide BE35
These electric buses FINALLY entered service a few days ago. While I didn't ride it, it was fast and very quiet.
This lone electric bus sits at the charging station downtown. The other 2 buses are sitting at garage with the new paint job.
Bus Codes L-to-R: 242, 232, 340, 115, & 117
Make/Model: 3-D40LF New Flyers and 2-Proterra EcoRide BE35.
Year: 242 & 232-2003; 340-2008; 115 & 117-2012
Location: Parked at the southeast corner of garage facility.
The EcoRide BE35 battery electric bus is the newest member of Proterra's fast-charge zero-emmission fleet.

It is the first 30 ft (9 m) or larger, heavy-duty all-electric bus ever to complete federally required durability, reliability and safety testing at the Bus Research and Testing Center at Altoona, Pennsylvania. The 12yr/500,000 mi (800,000 km) STURAA test was completed on March 5, 2012.
This model is suitable for using in the 3D renderings of architectural visualizations, traffic simulation, games etc. where it doesn't need to use heavy high-polygonal models.

For an all electric bus, this thing had power. I barely had a chance to get the correct zoom before he was out of sight. And talk about quiet; I didn't hear a single sound that this thing was moving. Still need to actually ride it though.
