246 was new to Lothian Buses in 2016 as 246.

She is seen here at Ferry Road.

In 2016, Lothian Buses invested in brand new buses for the tour fleet, they turned to their long time partner at the time, WrightBus for some of their Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 open top buses.

In 2017, this bus was revinyled with the all new logos for the Majestic Tour that has been the logo ever since. The bus has not had a full repaint before.

The Majestic Tour is the Edinburgh Bus Tours venture that explores the seaside, and visits a bunch of Edinburgh's Seaside attractions, the most notable being former HMS Britannia.

1126 was new to Lothian Buses in 2019 as 1126.

She is seen here at Marine.

Lothian Buses bought 15 ADL Enviro400 XLB bodied buses into service replacing the Wright Eclipse Gemini 3's for their flagship Airport Service 100, known as Airlink.

In late 2022, this bus was given the Lothian Buses standard livery but still retained the "Contactless Payments Accepted" vinyl the top of the bus.

A total of 78 Volvo B8L bodied Enviro400 XLB's were ordered and put into service from November 2018 to April 2019 (May be a few exceptions.)

All 77 Enviro400 XLB's are currently operated by Central Depot (CE) as they have always done so far in their lives.

These buses have 100 seats and can hold up to 126 passengers (Including standing positions) which is great for shuttle buses which attract lots of people, e.g. the Rugby games.

489 was new to Lothian Buses in 2017 as 489.

In July 2017, Lothian Buses announced 30 new 26 branded "Wright Eclipse Gemini 3" buses, they were part of "Fleet of the Future."

In October 2017, 489 received "The Panda Bus" wrap as part of a brand deal with Edinburgh Zoo. There are 15 different animals with 2 buses each sharing an animal. The Panda Bus pun is "Sit back and Relax."

In March 2023, Edinburgh Zoo announced that the Panda's will be leaving Edinburgh and return to their homes in China. This gave Lothian the opportunity to wrap 488 and 489 into a Farewell to the Pandas!

This photo was taken on the last day of the Panda Buses being in service, with no prior suggestion that they would get new vinyls.

On the arrival night of Plymouth Citybus' most recent batch of Enviro 400's I very quickly organised a last minute shoot as part of my final night photographing for Plymouth Citybus. With WA69 CYK and CYZ having only arrived a few hours ealier this was a very last minute shoot and was perfectly timed with DD18 GAS, a Demonstrator from Nottingham City Transport.

With new buses arriving into Plymouth I hope to be able to do something similar again soon however this might be a harder task with the new parking system that is now in use making space in the yard scarce.

This photo can be used as a good comparison of the new buses. If you look at the lights, you can see how the ones in the Spark are harsher/cooler than the ones used in the new buses as well as the gas bus. Another thing to point out is the diffence between the mirrors on the sparks vs the new ones with the spark having a longer mirror.

On the 8th of December 10 of the 11 Enviro 400 Cities line up for their first weekday in service whilst Volvo B7TL Y814 TGH (442) lines up for its last, finishing its day on the 19:15 34 from Derriford.

With this day being the first day in service for 4 of these vehicles I can say that they are neither good or bad, I feel they're a little too slow on hills and could do with a ZF Ecolife but they are smart and do look the part, especially with the new livery.

It is sad to see the Volvo's and Tridents get withdrawn but these new buses bring even more well needed investment into Public Transport in the region. With the recent trial with the Bio-Gas N280 Scania I am curious to see if this brings change to the fleet with potential orders in the future!

Fotografato in passaggio vicino all'autostazione di Bruneck su una corsa di 420.1 diretto a San Giorgio.

Once again on another insane Saturday night I did the midnight trip around the Rame penisular. This time with the company of WJ65 BZA (534). Once again the ferry was almost empty allowing for this awkward shot. Annoying lighting and ferry adding very slight vibrations made this 3 photo stack a nightmare to edit but I got it in the end. This is a once a day trip that runs a direct trip from Millbay/Insworke direct to Milehouse though the driver should've displayed the 70 to Milehouse instead of the 70A. As far as I am aware there is not a 70A that even goes to milehouse.

Has anyone ever shot the first two services of the day on the ferry? Is a photo like this possible or are there too many cars?

1046 was bought by Lothian Buses in 2018 as 1046.

She is seen here at Marine.

Lothian Country's 1046, a Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 with a Volvo B9TL chassis, was originally part of First Centerwest London's fleet in 2010 with registration BF60 UUD. After the London bus operator ceased operations in 2013, Metroline Centerwest London acquired the bus until Lothian Buses purchased it in 2018.

This particular vehicle is part of the batch of 50 refurbished buses that Wrightbus modernized and fitted with Lothian Buses-spec interior. To accommodate the fleet's specifications, the middle door was removed, and the buses were given a unique length of 10.8 meters compared to the standard 11.5 meters of Lothian Buses' newer vehicles.

In November 2021, Lothian Buses introduced a joint livery with East Coast Buses and Lothian Country in Green and White colors. After acquiring the new livery, the bus was put back into service in February 2022.

A very different location than usual, to try and get the service 107, exclusive to Christmas Day.

In 2017, it was announced that East Coast Buses had their first-ever batch of buses ordered new to them, it was 15 of these unique Wright Eclipse 3's.

A total of 16 of these buses were made, although a similar body was released by Wrightbus in 2020 called the GB Hawk.

In November 2021 it was announced that the East Coast Buses and Lothian Country liveries were going to merge into one Green and White livery to switch buses easier between the two companies.

Between February and March 2021, all 15 of these buses were quickly repainted into the new smart livery and 54 wears it here.

These buses have a luxury feel to them and the interior doesn't disappoint, with "High Back comfort" seats, mood lighting and a very quiet sound.

Go North East's Washington-based Optare MetroDecker demonstrator 9099 (YJ16 DFG), which carries a plain blue base livery, is pictured here at The Broadway, Houghton-le-Spring, whilst working "Red Arrows" service X1 to Easington Lane. 26/09/16

The Optare MetroDecker is an integral double-decker bus designed by English bus manufacturer Optare. The MetroDecker was designed as the spiritual successor to the Optare Olympus double-decker which was discontinued in 2011.

The MetroDecker is powered by the same Euro VI Mercedes-Benz OM934LA engine as the Wright StreetDeck. In a break from the norm for Optare, an Allison transmission option is not available for the MetroDecker, with the ZF EcoLife transmission fitted.

This demonstrator vehicle was first trialled by First South Yorkshire, where it was allocated fleet number 35000 and allocated to service X78, and was previously with Borderbus of Beccles.

It has now joined Go North East's fleet for a period of up to four months. It entered service at Washington Depot today, where it will undergo a four-week trial on "Red Arrows" service X1, to compare against the current Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TL allocation.

503 was new to Lothian Buses in 2017 as 503.

She is seen here at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary

In February 2017, Lothian Buses received new Volvo B5TL bodied Wright Eclipse Gemini 3's for their Airlink services, some of the former Airlink Buses from 2015 were sent to Lothian Buses and surplus were sent to Skylink to operate Services 200, 300 & 400 being repainted into a luxurious Blue and White livery.

With Edinburgh Airport's deal with Lothian Buses, the Airlink fleet must be updated every 2 years. However, in 2021, during the Coronavirus Pandemic, an agreement has suspected to have been extended by 2 years because of the Pandemic.

In July 2019, because of this deal, the batch was sent down to Skylink, to operate the services mentioned above, but unlike 15 plates, these buses did not receive a repaint but rather got Skylink vinyls

In November 2022, 496/7 were both repainted into the Lothian Standard livery following the PVR of Skylink going down after the Lothian Buses September Service Change, which saw the Service 300 being withdrawn.

The Service 200 has always operated in the North of Edinburgh, going from Edinburgh Airport via. Drum Brae, Granton to the Ocean Terminal.

-

The Service 300 was originally a direct copy of the former 35 route, (Except from Prince's Street and a slight rerouting in Leith) which before Skylink operations started went from the Ocean Terminal to Edinburgh via. Gorgie and The Royal Mile.

After the change above, the 35 retained its route from Ocean Terminal to Broomhouse, then splitting off to Hermiston Park and Ride and then terminating at Heriot-Watt University, this change proved to be very successful.

In July 2018, in an attempt to bump up passenger use and split the route from the 35, Lothian rerouted the service from Old Town to Cameron Toll.

In July 2020, after being withdrawn in March due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the service was reintroduced but instead only going as far as Sturgeon's Hall.

In August 2021, the route was reduced again now terminating at Bread Street, very close to Fountainbridge.

In September 2022, the route was withdrawn after a slow downfall from the hopeful venture launched by Lothian 5 years prior.

-

The Service 400 has always operated in the South of Edinburgh, this route directly copied the service 18 but was extended to the Airport. The route runs via. Fairmilehead and Colinton.

In March 2020, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the route operated as a normal Lothian service as it was reduced from Edinburgh Airport to the Gyle Centre, and the Fort Kinnaird section was reduced to the Royal Infirmary.

In July 2020, the route returned to its former state from Edinburgh Airport to Fort Kinnaird.

"Cleaner Air for our Future: The MAN City Bus enters the Philippine Domestic Market"

Ever since bus transport existed in the Philippines, it has always been a trend to utilize a medium-duty truck chassis for use as a bus. It is a popular option due to their availability and sturdiness. Due to the front-mounted engines, it has always been a common practice for the deck to be raised up to accommodate the height of the engine and drivetrain running from the engine up front to the rear axles. The end result is a deck height resembling that of long-distance coaches. Even upon the arrival of completely-built units from outside the country, city bus operators still opt for models with high deck heights. Due to their high deck nature, access in city buses for the elderly and disabled is quite limited.

However, MAN is set to change this trend with the introduction of their A84 18.280 city bus chassis, the most notable feature of which is the low-floor layout which gives easy access for passengers getting on or off-board the vehicle. Mounted at the back is a Euro 4 compliant 6.9 Liter D0836LOH40 Turbo-Intercooled 4-stroke Diesel Straight-6 engine pumping out as much as 280 hp at 2,300 rpm and 1,100 N-m of torque from 1,200 to 1,750 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Voith Sensotop 4-speed or a ZF EcoLife 6-speed automatic transmission which reduces the work load of the driver compared to the conventional Manual transmission. It is equipped with MAN’s Electronically-Controlled Air-Suspension for better ride comfort and it with a kneeling system to improve accessibility.

Disc brakes are standard on all four corners of the vehicle and MAN’s Electronic Braking System 5 or “Brake-by-Wire” enhances precision and shortens the stopping distance compared to that of conventional brakes. An electronic speed limiter also comes as standard further improving safety. Despite the technologies it packs, the MAN A84 is permitted to have a Gross Vehicle Weight of 18.2 tons which is 3 to 4 tons more than the usual city buses.

Such a capable chassis deserves a finely constructed body which is why Almazora Motors assembled the body which are imported from Gemilang Motors for the first prototype, which resembles a MAN Lion’s City.

Interior trim, lights, doors, and majority of all other components were imported from different countries. The doors open as wide as 1.35 meters and makes passenger entry and exit of the vehicle quick and efficient. Integrated to the door is a manually-folding access ramp for wheelchairs and infant strollers. Inside, lightweight polycarbonate seats replace the bulky traditional seats while a safe and comfortable area is allotted for people on wheelchairs.

Expect more of these MAN City Buses to arrive in the country.

With news now becoming public of the fleet movements throughout Go-Ahead for the Cornwall operations it has become apparent we are expecting Scania N94 Wright Eclipse Solar's from Go North East (via East Yorkshire). These buses will be an amalgamation of the two buses shown in the photo. They carry an earlier design of the Eclipse on the right, however it is designated Solar due to the chassis difference. It will also carry a less powerful variation of the L94 seen on the East Lancs Coachbuilders Esteem body to the left.

With the withdrawal of the Volvo B7RLE's we expected this to be the end of the Wrightbus and Volvo era's within Citybus however there are rumors of Volvo B7TL's coming back to Plymouth too so this might be a last break for interesting things in the City.

Luckily with the Cornwall Tender all vehicles need to be Euro 5+ so I expect this to push most of the boring stuff out of Plymouth while the Cornwall operations are built up and deliveries made. Sadly it wont last forever however it will make my summer extremely fun!

Unusual vehicles in the Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire fleet are seven Volvo B5TLs with Wrightbus Gemini 3 open-top bodywork. They are used on, and branded for, the 599 route between Grasmere and Bowness, part of which runs alongside Lake Windermere. Six other buses of this combination and layout run with Stagecoach East in Cambridge. Here 13805 (BV17 CTU) turns into the approach road to Windermere railway station on a Grasmere-bound trip.

Possibly my most travelled B7RLE that Citybus operated is 100, having clocked up multiple trips to Padstow, Bude and Looe in the last 6 months alone I don't think any of the others came quite as close in the whole of 2019 as this in the last 3 months. Sadly this one seems to have been withdrawn with 104 being the final Volvo on the road.

Edit - 100 Has had another lease of life on the 12 this morning. (4th Feb 2020) Clearly the plans to withdrawn then on Sunday did not happen!

I certainly will miss these machines and I wish I made much more of an effort before they departed the fleet. Because of how new these are I never really expected them to leave so soon and even with the knowledge of their departure looming for months I still did not make that much of an effort as I was too focused on the B7TL's which I had grown much accustomed too from my childhood.

Plymouth is becoming very dull these days and I expect to be spending more time around Devon and Cornwall over the coming year focusing on the changes that will occur over this year. Sadly ADL dominate pretty much the whole pennisula but there are still interesting buses in around if you look properly.
