Beneath the sky of endless white,
A phantom moves through day and night.
With fur like snow, thick, pure, and bright,
He treads the ice in quiet might.
Upon the frozen sea he waits,
By breathing holes, he meets his fate—
A silent hunter, patient, still,
The seal’s breath breaks the Arctic chill.
He swims through waters deep and cold,
A giant, fearless, strong, and bold.
Each stroke a promise to survive,
In icy currents, staying alive.
His world is shrinking, ice retreats,
The ocean rises, warmth it greets.
He roams the wild, yet feels the loss,
A kingdom melting, seas that cross.
And though he stands with steady gaze,
The sun now cuts through winter’s haze.
But in his stride remains a fight—
The Arctic King, for dawn’s new light.
For every cub that calls him near,
For winds that hum through skies so clear,
He walks the edge of what may be,
A testament to wild and free.

My offering to celebrate NMD, from #theyorkshiredalesnationalpark, surely the home of the finest #meadows in the UK.
National Meadows Day occurs on the first Saturday of July each year, celebrating the beauty and ecological importance of meadows across the UK.
National Meadows Day is an initiative aimed at raising awareness about the vital role meadows play in supporting biodiversity, providing habitats for wildlife, and enhancing the landscape. Meadows are rich ecosystems that are home to a variety of plants, insects, and animals, many of which are endangered. This day encourages communities to appreciate and protect these natural spaces through various activities and educational events. It also highlights the importance of conserving and restoring meadows to ensure their survival for future generations.

A beautifully textured autumn scene is interrupted by a discarded green can among fallen leaves. This image serves as a powerful commentary on human impact on nature—where beauty and pollution collide. A thought-provoking visual reminder of the importance of environmental responsibility.
What is The Green Revolution Show? It is a multimedia platform that has been created by Alexander Graham Marcoulides to awaken consciousness about the environment, and bring together thought leaders around the world. The idea is to teach people how to thrive with nature. READ THE ENTIRE BLOG on 7thheavenhikes.com/guest-hike-with-the-green-revolution-s...

Meet Liz Carren
~ Artist, Illustrator, Environmentalist ~
On Tuesday evening I was out of town and about to enter Whole Foods when I noticed a unique exhibit which was being dissembled as dusk was approaching. The whimsical, colorful designs were intriguing and eye catching. In chatting with the artist, Liz Carren, I became more fascinated with her new product line. I loved the individuality and fact that each design had a different character name and occupation! For my daughter I purchased "Birdelli" an Eco Fashion Designer and Model, and for a dear friend who is always happy, "Mabel" the CEO of a manufacturing company named Emos – a company which creates smiles.
Liz was so upbeat and passionate about her new botanical creations. Since my point and shoot was in the car, I asked her if she minded being part of my stranger interview! She was DELIGHTED! Please click on Liz’s website for a peek at her exciting art.
Here is a quotation from her *Imagination* page:
"What you will see on these pages is my love of art, illustration, flowers, horticultural and whimsy. I (Liz Carren) have been involved with Art, Design, Photography, Graphics, and Landscape Design/Gardening since the early ‘80s. I most enjoy maintaining the integrity of the literal image using new digital tools to move directly to interpretive imaging. My desire is to simply enhance and recreate reality. In this case recreated reality equals the Land of Botaniumus and the community within."

This is the bootprint of my hiking pal, Krestia. He was a few steps ahead of me and unknowingly left his mark in the tundra moss.
I'll be painting a mural on a wall set up in the forest for artists and the murals are donated to raise money for art and music education :) the lectures look really cool too. all the workshops are free. lots of yoga classes, nature / wildlife discovery for kids, sustainable living stuff, recycling, tai chi, chi gong, acrobatic stuff... it's pretty interesting i have to say... i think i'll go hug a tree with them :)

Recycling tree poster. Every time we recycle anything, another leaf will get pasted on. We cut the leaves from paper products we recycle. Once it is full, my daughter gets to pick a tree from a local nursery to plant outside.
The fruit-sticker tree poster, two days after it was up. L to R: citrus/tropical/other tree fruit, apples/pears/peches/nectarines/apricots/persimons (mostly apples, as these are the ones with stickers, here) and bananas. We tend to buy bananas in bunches of fives, so will be counting each banana sticker as a five. I am looking for other stickers we can use as pear/peach/apricot, etc stickers for the centre tree.
