Eclipse of the sun 20th March 2015

I was prepared to time my lunch with the eclipse and hopefully get some good shot. I work in IT, and sometimes is just to god damn hard to make the time. And I almost forgot about it. Just at the end, i threw my self over my bag , run out, and managed to get two quick shots. I only had a minute to spare and this is my first attempt ever on photographing an eclipse.

I only had my phone with me so I dialed in a super fast shutter speed which worked great for the eclipse, but darkened the rest of the sky. Still, I am delighted to have got what I did. A little post editing in PSE.

Had a lunar eclipse tonight. Bit cold outside, so I didn't stay out for the full three hours. I was outside maybe fifteen minutes. Just long enough to watch the moon turn red, play with my camera and learn what settings to get these kinds of shots, get a few good ones, and then head inside.

Eclipse March 2015

Looking west into the John Day River Valley, from Dixie Butte (elev. 2314m), where we watched the solar eclipse. We are still in the darkness but to the west the sun is already shining. Some Forest fire smoke in the distance as well. To the left is the Strawberry Range, and the Aldrich Mountains center-right in the sun. This was taken at 10:25am
