First part of lunar eclipse--clouds came in again as it approached totality, and my camera isn't good enough to capture totality anyway.

eclipse moon song is a gorgeous female adult Alaskan Tundra Wolf (canis lupus tundrarum) she is a black phase meaning she was born solid black, and has phased out to the salt n pepper tones you see in her adult coat. Black phase wolves no matter the subspecies continue to phase out for all their lives. Eclipse resides at a licensed Canadian Wolf Outreach Center and Eco Lodge in Saskatchewan. I used the lowest exposure setting possible and the sun is still too bright to capture on my camera.

I had to fight the clouds but was able to come away with some eclipse photos. I had my Astro modified EOS 70D attached to my Coronado 70mm SolarMax III with dual hydrogen alpha filters which has a 400mm focal length. I had it tracking the sun on my Sky Watcher AZ-GTi Star tracker. I’ve photographed the sun using this setup on several occasions, but never through clouds before. The clouds made it extremely difficult to focus so I got it close enough for government work. The clouds became thicker as the eclipse went on and started to completely cover the sun at times. The clouds became too thick for me to be able to adjust for tracking drift. Not long after maximum the sun disappeared behind the clouds for good. I gave these photos a strong sepia tone after processing them in black and white, which seemed to enhance the details of the sun a little more.
You would think that with the #eclipse happening yesterday, that I wouldn’t book travel, but I did. On the plus side I was going to Charlotte, NC which had 0.98 Magnitude. On the minus side I was totally unprepared to look at the eclipse or shoot it. When I landed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, I had about one hour until Totality. So, I made my way up to the top of the parking structure and discovered quite a crowd had gathered to view the event. I ended up watching the people watch the eclipse and really enjoyed myself! I figured lots of my friends will get amazing images the eclipse (and they did!), so I would try a different angle.

There will be a total eclipse of the moon tomorrow night, and it should be a good one. There's a complete viewer's guide here www.space.com/spacewatch/041022_eclipse_guide.html
I'm just on my way down island overnight to catch the ancient Egypt exhibit at the provincial museum. Will catch up to everyone on Thursday. Have fun.

When I found out that there was a lunar eclipse last night I battled the chill to capture a few snap shots
