When I watched the time-lapse movie, I noticed that clouds went by both before and after the full annular eclipse. I went looking for images on both sides of the middle that had clouds and would balance each other. I found these two
No tricks here (not that I am above that). Just exposure, contrast, and white balance. Then I combined them into a composite.

Partial Lunar Eclipse
On this Tuesday, July 16th, when the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission took off from planet Earth to the moon, the satellite gave its show in the sky. The partial lunar eclipse was photographed by me close to the horizon, over the city of Frederico Westphalen at dusk.

Bailey's Beads marks the start of totality in the Solar Eclipse of 2024. The last remnants of the sun dip below the mountains and valleys of the moon's surface.
My friend and work colleague brought a box of Moon Pies into work today, 21 August 2017, the day of the total eclipse of the Sun. At first I thought that he brought them in because of the day, because it is Earth's moon that blocks the Sun's rays for the effect. Nope, total coincidence.
When all of the Moon Pies were taken, I saved the box in order to make this simple pinhole eclipse viewer! The black rectangle is the viewing port. The pinhole is in that small piece of aluminum foil in the middle of the bite on the product illustration. Not perfect but it worked well enough.

Schade, dass sich dann die Wolken vor die Sonne geschoben haben. Aber immerhin, man konnte die Sonnenfinsternis ja doch ganz schön lange sehen.
A time series, clockwise from top left. The brightness of the total eclipse varies over 5 orders of magnitude, from the bright, hot pink solar prominences to the outer corona. Mosaic includes four different exposures of totality, ranging from 1/8000 (bottom right) to 1 s (center).
We reserved a room in Plattsburgh, NY about a year ago (Vermont was already fully booked, but Plattsburgh had plenty of rooms and no bump in prices yet). The morning of the eclipse dawned clear, but clouds were predicted to gather by afternoon, so we chased blue skies about 3 hours northeast to the southern outskirts of Sherbrooke, QC and had perfect weather. (Fortunately, I had insisted to my husband that we bring passports.) The Canadian customs website said there was a 40-minute wait at the entry station on the freeway, so we nipped over to the side road a few miles east and had the port of entry all to ourselves.
The total eclipse was … hard to describe, but all it’s cracked up to be — a striking spectacle. The inner corona was much brighter than I expected, blazing to the naked eye in sharp contrast to the suddenly black sun within.
