the airport is a place of passage, a liminal zone where lives intersect briefly, then scatter. here, under the sharp geometry of steel and glass, a lone traveler walks, dwarfed by the vast structure that frames her journey. the parallel lines of the moving walkway stretch into infinity, a quiet reminder of forward motion, of destinations yet to come. the muted sepia tones soften the harsh modernity, wrapping the scene in a blanket of nostalgia. it’s a moment caught between departures and arrivals, between now and soon—a fleeting whisper in the echoing halls of transit.

Blended a number of photographs together to get the man and young girl, walking through time, on their way collect items from the rock pools near the lighthouse. I love the way this image has come together and it is quite a touching image really.

took a little walk on echo cove yesterday. i can't believe this is within minutes of where i live. and also at the very end of the highway. so if this is the end of the road, i'm ok with that.

The Echo Point Hut was built by the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service in 1962. Sitting in the final stages of the 82 km (51 mi) Overland Track between Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair the often bypassed wooden hut remains in service in its original state and sleeps 8 people. Bon Echo Provincial Park, Ontario

When I woke on this morning, my back was aching badly. I'm getting way too old for tent camping even with an air mattress.

Anyway, I crawled out of the tent and headed for my car. My thinking was to drive away from the campsites and crank the heated seats to full in an attempt to put an end to my Quasimodo impersonation.

I didn't get very far before I saw this site.

The sun was just beginning to crest over the cliff edge at the lake and the fog looked amazing! There was a layer of it sliding along the water surface, sure. But up on the cliff top it was billowing up and then cascading over the edge like some freaky slow motion waterfall. Thinking about it now, I should have tried out the video function on my D600 as a still image can't capture what I saw that morning.

I was shocked that I was completely alone for this show as it really wasn't all THAT early and there are campsites less than 100 yards from here. Probably for the best though because I bet I looked pretty ridiculous scrambling around with my gear in "hunchback" mode.

The bells....the bells!

Memories of yesterday

they were a moment in time

A warm summer's breeze

the smell of fresh air

a dog barks, the birds sing

amidst the ...echoes of laughter.

Under clear blue skies, Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 is leading its first ever public excursion and is approaching Echo, Utah as it steams east along the route it was built to operate on.

Echo is not a friendly beast. He usually hoots at people in a predictable pattern, trying to warn them away. This time, he seemed much calmer and allowed me to get close.

It was a good opportunity.

Cat rescue update below:

Cause my echo, echo

Is the only voice coming back

Shadow, shadow

Is the only friend that I have

www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aBbLEjehC4

Hello, hello

Anybody out there? Cause I don't hear a sound

Alone, alone

I don't really know where the world is but I miss it now

I'm out on the edge and I'm screaming my name

Like a fool at the top of my lungs

Sometimes when I close my eyes I pretend I'm alright

But it's never enough

I don't wanna be down and

I just wanna feel alive and

Get to see your face again

But 'til then

Just my echo, my shadow

You're my only friend...

A dark and moody seascape from Cape Leeuwin in Western Australia. There were big heavy clouds moving by in the area and they added greatly to the atmosphere.

Located at the junction of the Green and Yampa Rivers, Echo Rock (more commonly called "Steamboat Rock") catches the sunlight in late afternoon in the aftermath of a violent thunderstorm. Echo Rock was named by John Wesley Powell during his 1869 trip down the Green and Colorado Rivers, ending at Grand Wash at the end of the Grand Canyon. Powell, in one of his more misguided inclinations, tried to climb Echo Rock to get a better view of the surrounding terrain. Climbing it with two arms would be difficult enough, but Powell had lost an arm as a result of a bullet in the Civil War. He ended up on a ledge where he could not go either up or down, and was rescued by one of his party who took off his pants and used it as a short rope to pull Powell up to safety.

This area was also important in the history of the environmental movement in the U.S. A dam was proposed for the river just above Echo Park (to the right of the photo), but was successfully fought off by a coalition of environmental groups, in particular the Sierra Club. Unfortunately the solution resulted in what was considered a compromise by allowing the construction of Glen Canyon Dam, which was not as well appreciated at that time due to its remoteness.

I had earlier walked down river to Mitten Park to view the wonderful fault and meadows (with bighorn sheep), when the rumbles of thunder became frequent and louder. The walk back to Echo Park was momentous, with high winds, torrential rain, and frequent and close lightning. The rain gear mostly worked, but the sweat from the quick pace and storm anxiety drenched me underneath the coat and pants. The view of Echo Rock and storm clouds made up for the slight discomfort. That night multiple storm cells tracked over the canyon, making the drive out through flooded washes exciting.
