1962-Kununurra-Blue Bell Lane near SMQ Married Quarters - Original Caption
Evelyn Nelligan Byrnes Collection
KHS Archive No. KHS-2011-4-PD-06
Bluebell (or Blue Bell) Lane was one of the married men's quarters areas (another was down what today is known as Riverfarm Road) during the construction of the Ord River Diversion Dam and the town of Kununurra in the very early 1960s.
When this collection was digitised the question was asked as to exactly where Bluebell Lane was, with the answer being given that it may have been close to where the old Darwin Road now disappears into Lily Creek and Lake Kununurra, with Celebrity Tree park on one side and Kimberleyland Caravan Park on the other. If you can shed any more light on Bluebell Lane please contact the Kununurra Museum - www.kununurra.org.au/home/contact-khs
Digitised with assistance from the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley.
