A Common Snipe and a Redshank take a well earned break from their hectic search for small invertebrates and crustaceans along the coastal section of RSPB Leighton Moss. As far as I could tell, worms and small crabs topped the day's Specials Menu.
CHARMING little reedbed specialist has a rather compact, rounded body and a proportionately very long tail. The distinctive call has earned the species the affectionate nickname of "pinger" which utters a diagnostic, high-pitched ping call.. Was overjoyed to get this chance encounter at Oare Marshes in Kent of a male, as I normally only see the female or juveniles, a bit of a nemesis bird for me.

La livrée du machaon se démarque par sa coloration de fond jaune intense tachée et veinée de noir. The livery of the swallowtail is distinguished by its intense yellow background stained and veined black. The forewings carry a broad black border with a row of yellow spots and a large dark mirror powdered with yellow at the corner of the "shoulders"; the underside remains dominated by yellow with veins and black spots. The hindwings are much more yellow above with a crenate border, a chain of yellow cells surmounted by a row of dark blue spots and a red ocellus, circled with black and blue; below, the yellow dominates even more with a fine network of black veins, the blue spots doubled with an orange-red spot for some of them. Remains perhaps the most distinctive sign: an extension, a "tail" that fits into the crenellated edge pattern, which earned him the English name swallowtail (swallow's tail).

It's Golden week in Japan which starts April 29 and finishes May 6 this year . sees people , travelling home and visiting family , exploring new destinations and taking advantage of their hard earned time off from work , Unfortunately , we have to spend this holiday at home and social distancing . to avoid the spreading of the virus .. but staying in home does'nt have to be boring , i keep my mind busy with my activities in photography , i wish you a pleasant new week , stay safe and be well my Flickr friend.....
One of the many dogs that came though our vet/animal unit in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. My group worked the shelter night shift for a month, giving us lots of opportunities to establish rapport with “issue” animals.

ETR's "Sunday Extra" job heads light power up the bush spur towards Ojibway Yard after spotting cars at ADM. ETL 104, an ex IC SW14 was recently reintroduced to the roster after undergoing a full rebuild at Lambton Diesel in Sarnia. Part of the rebuild was painting the unit in a heritage scheme of one of ETR's former liveries in the 70s-80s. The heavy wet snowfall on this particular Sunday made for a nice contrast to showcase 104's new stripes.

The Royal Liver Building /ˈlaɪvər/ is a Grade I listed building in Liverpool, England. It is located at the Pier Head and along with the neighbouring Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building is one of Liverpool's Three Graces, which line the city's waterfront. It was also part of Liverpool's formerly UNESCO-designated World Heritage Maritime Mercantile City.
Opened in 1911, the building was the purpose-built home of the Royal Liver Assurance group, which had been set up in the city in 1850 to provide locals with assistance related to losing a wage-earning relative. One of the first buildings in the world to be built using reinforced concrete, the Royal Liver Building stands at 98.2 m (322 ft) tall to the top of the spires, 103.7 metres (340feet) to the top of the birds and 50.9 m (167 ft) to the main roof.
The Royal Liver Building is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city of Liverpool with its two fabled Liver Birds which watch over the city and the sea. Legend has it that if these two birds were to fly away, the city would cease to exist.
The Liver Birds are 5.5 metres,18 feet high. Their added height gives the Royal Liver Building an overall height of 103.7 metres, 340 feet. A building of skyscraper proportion, and once one of the tallest buildings in the country, the Royal Liver Building is currently the 4th tallest building in Liverpool.

Strathearn or Strath Earn is the strath of the River Earn, in Scotland, extending from Loch Earn in the West to the River Tay in the east. The region formed a traditional province of Scotland, and hence had a mormaer and then an Earl. Now that the bright sunshine has disappeared and, in the quest to get something topical that didn't feature bleached-out greens, I took Norman Tebbit's advice and got on my bike yesterday.
Heading over to the Warrington area I stopped off at Moss Lane Bridge in Moore and bagged this shot of DRS class 88 unit 88002 'Prometheus' hurrying south with the 5.48am Mossend - Daventry containers (4M27).
In the background can be seen the uprights of the Gentlemen of Moore Rugby Union Football Club - sadly enduring an enforced closure at this time and, like many similar sporting clubs, hoping they will be able to recover once the lockdown is lifted.
At least 88002 seems to be having no such problem and is busy generating some cash for Direct Rail Services.

The Yueh Hai Ching Temple in Singapore, built in 1826 and renovated in 1855, is a great example of southern Chinese temple architecture, specifically in the Teochew architectural style from the Qing Dynasty. It is a Taoist temple.
The current structure of this shrine dates back to 1850 and then was substantially renovated in 1895. Since then, it has undergone several restorations.
The temple was designated as a National Monument of Singapore in 1996. Its restoration and conservation in 2011 earned the Award of Merit at the 2014 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards.
The courtyard of Yueh Hai Ching Temple, enclosed by surrounding walls and buildings, possesses a sense of introspection.
Its seclusion from the outside world creates a tranquil, self-contained space, as a serene retreat within the temple grounds.
To earn 1,000 Sri Lankan rupees, workers must harvest at least 18kg per day otherwise they get a lower rate per kilo. These fees are set by the government which also leases the tea estates to companies

Montana Rail Link’s Helena local with eight cars flies up Winston Hill at milepost 215 east of Winston, Montana, on the afternoon of June 25, 2020. MRL EMD GP9 No. 109 was built in February 1955 for Northern Pacific, and on the day of this photograph, the venerable Geep is still earning its keep 65 years later.
A testa rossa (redhead, and yes, even before Enzo coined the name there were testa rossas) absorbing a 1951 "bullet nosed" Studebaker, and not sure what to make of it! Her thoughts might be, "...weird, but maybe in a nice way, yes, weird! I kinda like it. I think!"
And I think that's how many would have felt about the late forties and early fifties Studebakers back then. The designs were met with a mixed reception and definitely a mixed audience of lovers, and haters, and probably little middle ground. The design of the late forties / early fifties Studebakers included both the Starlite Coupes and the later bullet nosed models, and they came from the pen of Robert Bourke. Bourke had started with Studebaker as part of the design team in 1940 earning $75 dollars a week. The team was led by Raymond Loewy during the 1940s, and Loewy had a talented team working on Studebaker designs, including Bourke, Vince Gardner and, Gordon Buehrig (who was responsible for the great-looking Cord models), and Virgil Exner, (Exner later went on to work for Chrysler Corp and was responsible for their "Forward Look" designs of the fifties and beyond)
The White Church, the former parish kirk, is Comrie's most striking building, with its prominent tower and spire situated on the roadside of the ancient churchyard at the heart of the village. This is an early Christian site, dedicated to the obscure early saint Kessog (or Mokessog), who may have flourished in the 8th century. The Comrie Parish Church is of a grand Gothic style, disproportionate to anything else in the village dominates the distant skyline. It was designed and built in 1881 by George T Ewing. Comrie is also graced by a little-known Charles Rennie Mackintosh building, a shop in the main street with a first floor corner turret built in a version of the Scottish vernacular style. Some of the buildings and homes in the village date back hundreds of years with many traditional highland cottages built in dry-stone and/or clay which all would have originally been endowed with thatched roofs. In the higher mountain glens surrounding the village traditional highland blackhouses, most now in ruins, are also to be found. There are also a number of grand estate homes and historic castles in the local area. For the most part however, in the main quadrants of the village are to be found Victorian and Edwardian buildings, including many large detached villas and small terraces. In the newer parts of the village more modern properties from the 1950s onwards dominate, including extremely modern properties of varying character.
