At the foot of the site where this photo was taken (Eagle’s Nest), and only a few miles away a certain Adolf Hitler had his holiday residence (called Berghof). About the man there are only terrible things to say, but the view he had is magnificent.

The Berghof was bombed by the Allies in April 1945 and demolished a few years later. There is now a documentation centre on the site.

The “Kehlsteinhaus”, also called “Eagle's Nest”, is a Nazi-constructed building on top of Mount Kehlstein (1,834 m). The Eagle's Nest, build in 1938, offers breath-taking panoramic views and was mainly used to receive visiting diplomats and dignitaries. Today it is still in its original state and houses a restaurant.

The photo is taken on the platform where the road ends. There you must take a long tunnel and a (surprising) brass elevator that takes you up 124 metres into the Eagle’s Nest.

The whole area was heavily bombed by the Allies in 1945. All the villas of Nazi leaders and military facilities have disappeared, only the Kehlsteinhaus bears witness to the dark period in history.

It is not clear who and exactly when built the castle. It's said, though, that it was founded in the 14th century.

The male brings a fish to the nest while the female incubates two eggs, they would change every 2-4 hours. What we didn't know at the time was one of the chicks had hatched, we were moments away from seeing it for the first time.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

We have just returned from an amazing three days of photographing an Eagle family. The chicks hatched approx 24 hours apart during some of the worst weather I have ever seen in April. Incredible to watch the parents keep the chicks warm and protected with a wonderful gentle touch. Lots more photos and videos coming as I sort through all the photos my husband and I took.

Mama eagle kindly letting us know if we wanted a closer shot we were gonna need a longer lens...

Truly a wonderful experience watching an Eagle family. The chicks are just two weeks old born 3 days apart. Both are eating well as you can see there are meals lined up around the edge of the nest. The male was bringing fish at regular intervals. I have tons more photos to go through, I will be posting a lot more of this family.

This is probably what made Hitler decide to build his cabin here. Nice vistas over some of the Alps.

I hate making a lot of shots just to end up with the one I took with the mobile, but to be ones I could have put a bush of pictures together to come up with a better image, just didn't thought of it back then

The bus ride to the top was intense i wish we could of take our own car lol .

The Kehlsteinhaus (known as the Eagle's Nest in English-speaking countries) is a Third Reich-era edifice erected atop the summit of the Kehlstein, a rocky outcrop that rises above the Obersalzberg near the town of Berchtesgaden. It was presented to Adolf Hitler on his 50th birthday as a retreat and place to entertain friends and visiting dignitaries. Today it is open seasonally as a restaurant, beer garden, and tourist site.

Running behind schedule, Amtrak's Southwest Chief greets the morning sun along Santa Fe's Crookton Cutoff at Eagle Nest, Arizona on April 11, 1993.

Here we see what is probably (guessing!) the female eagle returning to the nest after only being gone a minute or so. On the nest the very young eaglet waits the arrival of sibs. Near St.John's, NL, Canada.

BERCHTESGADEN (Alemanha): Kehlsteinhaus (Ninho da Águia).

Both adults reacted to any airborne raptor, other Eagles, Vultures or Ravens. The screaming even rattled me a little it was so intense at times, it seemed to be effective the flyovers were gone in a hurry.

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

Eagles Nest Inverloch Victoria

These 3 Young Bald Eagles Are Happy For Now Just To Watch The World Go By. In A Few Days They Will Be Leaving The Nest.

Checked on our favorite nearby nest yesterday. This one seems to have something important to say.

SOOC

A short ghost story:

As old folks tell, the car belonged to two thieves who had stolen diamonds in the Sperrgebiet (Diamond Restricted Area) and fled in this car, followed by the police. At this spot the diamond detectives caught up with them and both Thieves were killed in a gunfight (the bullet holes still bear witness). It is said that the diamonds were never retrieved and the two thieves are haunting the Ghost Valley in moonlight night ever since, still looking for the lost diamonds...

That fuzzy little grey spot to the left of the egg is a newly hatched eaglet. The parents were changing duties the female was departing and the male taking over the care of the new eaglet and egg. They did not remove the broken shells until after the second one hatched. For the first 24 hours the eaglets did not eat there was fish available however the parents know better and waitied untill they were a day old before feeding. A truly wonderful experience watching this eagle family.

2025-06-01 1103-CR3-L2

I finally was able to head down to the Grand Ravines North Park on Sunday morning and was able to get the 4 eaglets in one shot. Our pair of Eagles were blessed with 4 eaglets this spring, something I have never seen before as it seems to be quite rare.

From the net.....

Statistics show that 4 egg clutches make up only 0.7% of all clutches! I believe there have been only 4 instances of known 4 egg clutches since the beginning of live nest cam viewing. The success of the nest will depend heavily on an abundance of food and all the chicks being able to eat.

Looks like all are doing well.

Eagles Nest Inverloch Victoria

Just back from damp Easter weekend down in Monmouthshire with family. Not really a great weekend for getting out with the camera, but I did get up to the Eagles Nest above the River Wye, just North of Chepstow, last night and I took this panorama as a little light penetrated the dark skies and lit up the meadows below.

It is quite a climb up from the valley to this point, but it is worth it for the view. I must get here in Autumn for a picture with the autumn colours creating a much different feel to the scene. From here you can see the Severn Bridge spanning the Bristol Channel and Chepstow Racecourse on the right middle of this shot.

This is seven frames merged in photoshop to create a wider shot taking in the bend in the River Wye.
