I have spent almost a week on Salt Spring Island, in the Southern Gulf Islands just off the much larger, well-known Vancouver Island. Amidst artists, winemakers, coffeeshop owners and simply incredibly resourceful, talented and warm-hearted people. Sounds like a snapshot of what Canada is all about? I don't know what to call this style of creation. Does anyone know? It's common enough that there must be a name for it in the advertising industry if nothing else. I find it clever, but it's common enough that I feel it's probably also cliche. I've photographed these in real life from various forms of advertising, such as posters, signs, and magazines. I have still more that I've seen and collected from sources online, but I don't post those online.

Possibly my second-favourite of these I've seen. Seen at Canada Place, Vancouver.
