I have Dequervains in both thumbs. I had cortisone treatments back in March, but the effects are wearing off. I'm starting to lose my hand function again. This devastates my expectations in more ways than I can count. So I made it a funhouse mirror.
No smokes for me! Tiffany waits patiently outside a convenience store. She's come to now expect a treat if someone goes in a store.
Jessica's grandfather lived here when he was a little boy, and the home is now owned by a family friend. The Spanish style home has 5 bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen and a indoor courtyard. It also has an entire 2nd floor that they no longer use. It was beautiful, but like most homes in Cuba, it was also in a state of decay.

I couldn't decide on a name, hense "No Expectations", my brother's girlfriend said that's what first came to her mind when she saw it. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing - but I liked it, so it stuck : )
Deciding to explore the idea of youth culture and the expectations that come along with it, I chose to show this using brown paper material spray-painted gold to represent the idea of feeling overwhelmed by this like it is slowly beginning to take over. When researching youth culture, there seemed a be a wide variety of different terminology to describe it, however I found the best way to understand it to be the way in which children, teenagers and young adults live and the way in which they express their identities and belonging to this group. However, I need to and am planning to develop this idea more, as it is a recent project.
