Alice M. Kilgour donates Sunnybrook Farm to the City of Toronto in memory of her husband Joseph Kilgour for use as a public park, to be known as Sunnybrook Park in 1928
With the consent of the Kilgour heirs, 400 hectares of Sunnybrook Park, with the western boundary at Bayview Avenue, was transferred to the Government of Canada as the site for a new hospital for Canadian veterans in 1943

The sunbittern (Eurypyga helias) is a bittern-like bird of tropical regions of the Americas, and the sole member of the family Eurypygidae (sometimes spelled Eurypigidae) and genus Eurypyga. It is found in Central and South America, and has three subspecies. The sunbittern shows both morphological and molecular similarities with the kagu (Rhynochetos jubatus) of New Caledonia, indicating a gondwanic origin, meaning they evolved before the continents drifted apart.
The bird has a generally subdued coloration, with fine linear patterns of black, grey and brown. Its remiges however have vividly colored middle webs, which with wings fully spread show bright eyespots in red, yellow, and black. These are shown to other sunbitterns in courtship and threat displays, or used to startle potential predators. Male and female adult sunbitterns can be differentiated by small differences in the feather patterns of the throat and head.
Sunbitterns are one of 12 species of birds in five families that have been described as fishing using baits or lures to attract prey to within striking distance. This type of behaviour falls within the common definition of tool use. In sunbitterns this behavior has only been observed in captive birds so far.

Sharpened with Unsharp Mask in Affinity. Added a gradient mask to the bottom left corner to take down the brightness. Avoided a vignette to retain people, top left.]

Beauty before the beast.
Church of Mykonos
There are literally dozens of small churches scattered around Mykonos, all with their snow-white exteriors, and often with small colorful domes. But the most iconic of all is Panagia Paraportiani, dating back to the 1400s, found facing the sea at the entrance to Chora (the location is reflected in the name, which means “Our Lady of the Side Gate”). It’s considered a perfect example of Cycladic architecture, and is classified as a national monument. Unfortunately it’s usually closed, but the main attraction is its exterior anyway. Its asymmetrical shape is due to it actually being five tiny churches squeezed together -- four below and one above. At the center is the church of Agios Efstathios, surrounded by the churches of Agia Anastasia, Agios Anargyros (the first one to be built, in the late 1300s) and Agios Sozon, and with the Church of the Virgin Mary standing out at the top with a dome.
In its surroundings, you may bump into the island's mascot, Peter the Pelican.
I've taken a few more shots like these in the past but a recent photo I've stumbled upon by someone else inspired me to take another one.
