This hike began at South Lake on the Bishop Pass Trail September 8 and 6 days latter ended at North Lake. According to a more accurate account than I can generate we hiked 55 miles, gained 8,730 feet and lost 9,200 feet elevation. This area, part in Kings Canyon National Park and part in the John Muir Wilderness is about 20 miles southwest from Bishop, California.
Here is a brief summary of our route: South Lake Trailhead - Bishop Pass - Dusy Basin - LeConte Canyon - Muir Pass - Evolution Valley - Puite Creek Canyon - Humphrey's Basin - Piute Pass - North Lake Trailhead. We passed more than a dozen lakes some of which I will mention when I upload photos. IMG_0358

Hyacinth Evolution
I planted 15 indoor hyacinths ready for Christmas. Three came into full flower after January 1st, the others are still emerging from the soil.
One has yet to burst into life at all. But at least I have a range of hyacinths to choose from.
Three different hyacinths are featured here and I should have 3 different colours when they are all finally in bloom. In my mind I had an image I wanted to create but with all the bulbs and different colours maturing at different rates, I'll just have to be happy with what Nature reveals to me, in her timescale not mine.
3 are now in flower and the distinctive hyacinth scent is very strong, although the pink version has a very noticeable "oak" smell about it which the red and blue ones don't have.
Inspired by the idea of a 52 week project for taking photos of flowers without colour.
I'm in a very creative and inspired 'state' of mind at the moment, tee hee.
I really had fun with these in Studio Indigo.
LYSIANTHUS , unfurling in front of your eyes.
Originating in the West Indies, Mexico, and Central and South America, the flower is known botanically as Eustoma grandiflorum.
The common name comes from the Greek words lysis, meaning 'dissolution' and anthos, meaning 'flower'.
Colours include white, light and dark pink, lavender and deep purple. Double and single-flower varieties exist.
THANK YOU, M, (*_*)

Onlookers gaze at a workman suspended within a hollow 45-foot wire-mesh statue of an unclothed female figure. The statue, titled "R-Evolution", was conceived by American artist Marco Cochrane (1962- ) who is best known for his large-scale steel sculptures of nude women. It currently stands in front of the Ferry Building at Embarcadero Plaza in San Francisco California, a gateway to the busy downtown area. The statue is scheduled to stay at its present location for the next six months with a possible six month extension.

Sumatran Orangutan
A bit different from my usual fare and although the majority of my images are of wild creatures I don't have a problem with photographing captive animals, especially as modern UK zoos do a lot of good conservation work. It is many, many years since I have visited a zoo and I was pleasantly surprised at Chester; huge enclosures and many birds free flying. It does enable you to get some interesting images.

Evolution has seen the humble coffee seed, commonly called the coffee bean, being presented today in a pod with a bar code that even tells the machine how much steaming water to add to the cup. Happy Macro Mondays everyone.
I posted this awhile back and didn't really edit any of the shots since the owner wanted a natural look, but I couldn't help myself. I know I probably edited the crap out of the picture but I kinda like it.

Echoes Evolution Forgot
She wasn’t born a seeress; she became one the day she found the old camera, dusty and humming with secrets.
Each click peeled back the skin of time, ghosts in lace, wars half-forgotten, lovers touching hands they hadn't yet met.
Through the cracked viewfinder, she saw futures stumble,
pasts ache to be remembered.
The world spun slow when she looked;
history whispered through the lens, and tomorrow blinked at her like a shy star.
In her hands, memory and prophecy became photographs nobody else could see...
