I'm not sure what might be happening with atmospherics at the moment but we have been getting some wonderful and long lasting sunsets here in Mount Gambier. Last night's was another vivid beauty. This shot was taken almost an hour after the sun went below the horizon. The stars were well and truly shining overhead. I was amazed at the vivid hues it still gave even another half an hour after this was taken. I think even the birds perched on our village TV antenna were mesmerised!

In the gardens at Tredegar House last spring, Golden Everlasting Strawflower providing some bright spring colour.
I hadn't been taking sunsets for so long, that I was in need of a late afternoon session, especially as low tide was late afternoon. Luckily bands of clouds flew across and made an interesting skycap. It was a wonderful session, made even more so as I met another Bridgend landscape photographer Neil Holman, who's work I'd admired for. a long time, even though he doesn't post on Flickr now, preferring Instagram and Facebook. It was great to share each other's enthusiasm, and the sunset kept on performing for us well after the sun went down. All in all a. great night. Everlasting Light is by Dry The river.

The everlasting gaze is a great title by Smashing Pumpkins, and when there's sun streaming through gaps in the clouds it holds my everlasting gaze. It's great not to have to spend ages getting rid of spots on the sensor, so for a few weeks , I'll revel in the new camera euphoria. It'll save me hours . Just noticed I forgot to set the date on the new camera, it was actually taken yesterday :))

Admired for the beauty of its joyful flowers, Helichrysum bracteatum or Xerochrysum bracteatum (Everlasting Flower) is a short-lived tender perennial or annual boasting daisy-like flowers, up 1-3 in. across (2-8 cm), adorned with a central yellow disk surrounded by glossy, petal-like bracts in brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, pink or white. The petals are like stiff paper, and they unfold to form concentric rings in bright colors.

Everlasting Daisy, also called Paper Daisy or Strawflower after its large papery flowers, is a short-lived perennial shrub native to Australia. They are hardy, drought resistant plants that can be grown in pots or well-drained garden beds. The long-lasting flowers can be dried, this shot from my garden back in 2014.
