Robinchats can be found on heaths, in the dunes, in rough, open marshlands and in semi-open farmland. They are birds of open to semi-open, often dry terrain with some scrub growth or tall growing herbs. The well-hidden nest is built on or just above the ground. Most of the food consisting of insects and other small animals is tracked down from a lookout post in the territory. The males are easily recognizable with a black head, white neck sides and bright orange breast.
This male Bee-eater is in full breeding plumage here, as this shot was taken back in June.
They’re less bright outside of the breeding season, when they migrate South to over-winter in tropical Africa.
My friends & I sat watching a small colony of these wonderfully gaudy little birds, as they flew in to visit their nest holes.

For some unknown reason we haven't had Badgers visit our garden for some months, however, IR garden night motion sensors have recently detected movement and following further investigation, I am pleased to confirm the "Badgers are Back" after a prolonged period of time. Caught this little guy out and about on Sunday. Probably too warm for the time of year, so they are still around.

Family: Mustelidae.
With its characteristic black and white-striped face, grey fur and short furry tail, the badger looks like no other UK mammal. Stocky, powerfully-built creatures, they typically weigh 10–12kg, with a body length of about 90cm. This makes them the biggest land predator in the UK. Info: Woodland Trust.

The robin features prominently in British folklore and that of northwestern France, but much less so in other parts of Europe. It was held to be a storm-cloud bird and sacred to Thor, the god of thunder, in Norse mythology. But this one was quietly waiting for me in the Jardins de Bagatelle.
