A plenary session "Never Lost Again", to demonstrate the worldwide importance of satellite navigation systems to the public, industry and military, took place at IAC 2010, 28 September 2010. Satellite navigation has grown over the past two decades from a single system for limited uses to one in which, in the current decade, there will be six systems, many augmented by complementary terrestrial systems, that provide a tremendous range of services.

The theme of the 2023 ESA Open Days was ‘Science Fiction Gets Real’, highlighting how science fiction has inspired scientists and engineers to join ESA, and turn once imaginary concepts into science fact.

As with the previous two editions, Sunday’s general Open Day was preceded by an Open Day for people with a disability on Saturday, the day before, allowing visitors to explore the sprawling site at their own pace – because space is for everyone.

Due to the success of the Φ-Experience conceived by AES and ESA and the Memorabilia Wall in Frascati, there has been an ongoing creative process on the development of a new part to complement the multimedia centre. This new area was previously dedicated to the CREOP (Control Room for Earth Observation Payloads) but has recently been completely refurbished as a showcase of activities that are carried out on the ESA ESRIN establishment.
