Images from the 12th edition of the ESA Open Days at ESTEC, ESA's technical centre in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, which took place on 7 and 8 October 2023.

The theme of the 2023 ESA Open Days was ‘Science Fiction Gets Real’, highlighting how science fiction has inspired scientists and engineers to join ESA, and turn once imaginary concepts into science fact.

As with the previous two editions, Sunday’s general Open Day was preceded by an Open Day for people with a disability on Saturday, the day before, allowing visitors to explore the sprawling site at their own pace – because space is for everyone.

ESA hosted the Living Planet Symposium on 13–17 May 2019 in Milan, Italy.

The event brought together scientists and users to present their latest findings on Earth’s environment and climate derived from satellite data. It provided an opportunity to introduce missions in development from ESA – such as the Sentinels, Earth Explorers and meteorological missions – as well as from national space agencies.

It was the world’s biggest conference on Earth observation to date.

Covered scientific themes include oceanography, solid Earth and geodesy, atmosphere, climate and meteorology, the cryosphere, hazards, methodologies and products, near-Earth environment and land applications. Special sessions were dedicated to ESA programmes and initiatives, including the Climate Change Initiative and other international cooperation initiatives, as well as the Copernicus environmental monitoring programme.

The symposium followed the previous ones held in Prague (2016), Edinburgh (2013), Bergen (2010), Montreux (2007) and Salzburg (2004).

Esa puerta que está en un rincón. Un rincón que tiene encanto. Ese encanto que solo los barrios con historia tienen. Esa historia que respira cada rincón de mi querido Gótico.
