i learned all about blur technology from john russell, a fellow flickr-ite who is fearless on the question. it just entails shaking your camera like a crazy person, until your teeth chatter, all while trying to keep it level. highly recommend that those of you who decorated porches go out in the dead of night and do this. it is just not the same indoors. do NOT change settings as you may never get back to square one. have a very merry Christmas!

"The Forward and Full Forward displays entail partly folding the neck with the bill facing the opponent and partly erecting the body plumes (a Forward display). From this position, an aggressor can thrust the bill at an opponent (a Full Forward display), although such attacks are not frequent. The Full Forward display occasionally results in serious injury and even the death of an opponent (Forbes and McMackin 1984). Bill duels, in which opponents alternately attempt to grab each other's head, occur during some Full Forward displays." Cornell Lab of Ornithology

This was my second trip to Kenya. The first one entailed going to both Kenya and Tanzania which is common. One of the options was to see Lake Nakuru and the flamingos. I didn't see it on my first trip and I didn't want to miss it this time.
In person, the lake doesn't appear this dreamlike, but in a photograph is appears almost like a heavenly body fit for the beautiful flamingos.
This is another photo of the Watchman in Zion National Park. I wanted to get the iconic photo from the bridge which includes the the Virgin River and the Watchman but alas 3 of the Shuttle stops were closed. It would have entailed walking for miles. I settled for a shot near the parking area for the shuttle.
Description in English and Dutch
Mr. Monster was taking a leisurely stroll along the canal in Kinderdijk, admiring the magnificent reflections of the clouds in the water. As he stopped to take in the breathtaking view, he began to dream away to the past and found himself learning about the incredible history of water management and windmills in the Unesco area. He was transported back to a time of innovation and discovery, when Dutch engineers perfected the art of controlling the water and safeguarding their land from the ever-present threat of flooding. He saw the development of the windmills from their early days to the 19th century, when they were used to pump water to and from the canals. As he continued to take in the scenery, Mr. Monster knew that he had been granted a unique opportunity to learn about the history of the area and all that it entailed.

Land's End is a headland and tourist and holiday complex in western Cornwall, England, situated within the Penwith peninsula about eight miles west-south-west of Penzance at the western end of the A30 road.
To the east of it is the English Channel, and to the west the Celtic Sea. It is the most westerly point of mainland England, but not the westernmost point on mainland Great Britain, as this title narrowly goes to Corrachadh Mòr in the Scottish Highlands.
At its heart, it’s a major tourist attraction with all that that entails as the “visitor centre” has over recent years been developed into a leisure complex. Walk just 1 mile or more away from the ice cream and snack bars along the coast in either direction and you’re confronted with some of the most beautiful coastal views anywhere in the UK (particularly at sunset)
He ran his fingers across my very soul.
Now, there are special flowers that flourish and grow.
They light up and show me the way; the lit path to love.
If the flowers start to wilt and doubt, he waters them to help them out.
They shine and grow bold even when the outside becomes cold.
So my feet continues on; the lit path to love.
I am no longer lost in the dark.
I follow this path he planted on my heart.
In his presence I take great delight. He sends soft kisses especially at night.
The flowers and I glow on; the lit path to love.
There's a lot I could say about love. We all have our own opinions on what it entails. Yet, what does the Heavenly Father say it is? Intimacy begins with Him.
Be blessed today Flickr friends, for you are deeply loved.
Thank you for the kind favs and comments.
The light might be challenging but Colas Tug 60026 still makes a fine sight passing through an autumnal Horbury Cutting as it takes charge of the 08.55 Preston Docks - Lindsey (6E32) discharged bitumen tanks for the very first time.
My first visit to this classic spot - and helpfully one which only entailed falling out of the car to bag.

as much time and effort as the production of a good watercolor or etching - there would be a vast improvement in total output. The sheer ease with which we can produce a superficial image often leads to creative disaster :-)

Hello People!
I've been after the Red-headed Woodpecker for a few years now and finally met with success this past summer (on a fencepost no less)! This entailed driving up and down country roads in the Interlake region, around 150km north of Winnipeg which is at the far northern part of their range.
The Red-headed Woodpecker is a North American bird. Its range is from central southern Canada and then south to Florida. Sadly, their numbers are decreasing because of habitat destruction.
Happy Fencepost Friday! HFF!
I really appreciate your views and comments, THANK YOU! Have a terrific day and weekend ahead!

If I could look at the world
with your sophisticated innocence;
nothing would count, serene before the hour.
If I could only live
on memories, screwdrivers,
stopped clocks and amber eyes.
If I could suffer again
(for the usury of happiness that effort always entails).
If I could strip off fatigue
from each new attempt, each effort,
the pale reflection of what we lived.
If I could have everything I leave behind,
what is behind
each word, each poem.
If I could...
If I could at least for a moment,
if I could...

Once the train completes work at Yulee and Fernandina Beach, it'll return to Waycross in the late afternoon as the A773.
In the foreground is old US Route 17, used at the time (and now) as a fishing pier. Hiding behind leader 3136 is the bridge tender's cabin. As an interesting operating note, this was a "one-manpower" bridge. Opening it for river traffic entailed walking to the center of the span, inserting a long wrench-like tool into a gear in the deck, and walking in circles until the span rotated into the clear. Hell of a way to make a living!
I haven't made a flat lay image in a while and forgot how much work it entails. I may have to wait a while to do another one :(
Have a fabulous Monday and don't forget to eat your breakfast!
Another location I get obsesive about. This is all about the roof. Can't get a totally symmetrical shot as that would entail standing on the tracks.
Hello Flickr friends! I was away for most of the past week and a half, vacationing with my granddaughter, Meghan, who lives in Arizona. Together, we visited family and friends in Wisconsin and Michigan. This trip entailed driving at least 1400 miles and more walking than I'm used to, but was totally worth it. Fortunately for me, Meghan was happy to do a lot of the driving!
The photo above was taken on the beach near the Grand Traverse Lighthouse at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula.
I'm not that frame conscious.. My pictures can be cropped so long as their meaning remains intact. The one thing I will not tolerate is mindless misrepresentation for reasons of layout :-)

The Santa Monica Pier is a large double-jointed pier at the foot of Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica, California. With an iconic entrance, the pier is popular with residents and visitors as a landmark that is over 100 years old.
Santa Monica has had several piers; however, the Santa Monica Pier is two adjoining piers that long had separate owners. The long, narrow Municipal Pier opened September 9, 1909, primarily to carry sewer pipes beyond the breakers, and had no amenities. The short, wide adjoining Pleasure Pier to the south, a.k.a. Newcomb Pier, was built in 1916 by Charles I. D. Looff and his son Arthur, amusement park pioneers. Attractions on the Pleasure Pier eventually included the Santa Monica Looff Hippodrome building (which now houses the current carousel and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places), the Blue Streak Racer wooden roller coaster (which was purchased from the defunct Wonderland amusement park in San Diego), the Whip, merry-go-rounds, Wurlitzer organs, and a funhouse.
The Carousel was built in 1922 on what was often referred to as a Pleasure Pier and features 44 hand-carved horses. It was rebuilt in 1990 inside the Hippodrome. A calliope provides musical accompaniment.
The La Monica Ballroom opened on July 23, 1924. Designed by T.H. Eslick with a Spanish façade and French Renaissance interior, it was the largest dance hall on the west coast, accommodating 5,000 dancers on its 15,000-square-foot (1,400 m2) hard maple floor. Country music star Spade Cooley began broadcasting his weekly television show from the ballroom in 1948, where the enormously popular program remained until 1954. In the summer of 1955, the Hollywood Autocade opened at the La Monica with one-hundred famous and unusual cars, including Jack Benny’s Maxwell and a Rumpler Drop Car. From 1958 until 1962, the ballroom served as a roller skating rink; first as Skater's Ballroom, and later as the Santa Monica Roller Rink, where the speed skating club won many state and regional championships. The La Monica Ballroom was demolished in 1963.
The Pleasure Pier thrived during the 1920s but faded during the Great Depression. During the 1930s, the pier was mainly used as a ferry landing, while most of the amusement park facilities were closed down and its attractions sold off.[8]
The bridge and entry gate to Santa Monica Pier were built in 1938 by the federal Works Project Administration, and replaced the former grade connection.
The Newcomb Pier was privately owned until it was acquired by the city in 1974.During the 1960s and 1970s various plans were proposed that would entail removal of the pier. The strangest one called for the construction of an artificial island with a 1500-room hotel. It was approved by the City Council, but citizens formed "Save Santa Monica Bay" to preserve the pier.[11] The outstanding order to raze the pier was revoked by the city council in 1973. Within that same year, the Carousel and Hippodrome were memorable sets featured in the film The Sting, although the story was set in Chicago.
In the 1950s, Enid Newcomb suggested to family friend Morris "Pops" Gordon that his two sons, George and Eugene, purchase and operate the Pier’s arcade. It didn’t take much persuasion, for the Gordons instantly took to the Pier and ultimately made Playland Arcade into the Pier’s longest running enterprise offering the day’s contemporary games alongside those of yesterday, providing inexpensive entertainment to a diverse crowd. George’s daughters Marlene and Joanie have kept the business within the family, and the next generation of Gordons is already in training to maintain the family tradition.
In 1983, the Santa Monica Pier experienced a significant loss. On January 27, there were reported swells of 10-feet during this winter storm. When the storm was over, the lower deck of the pier was destroyed. The City of Santa Monica began repairs on March 1, 1983, when another storm rolled in. A crane which was being used to repair the west end was dragged into the water and acted as a battering ram against the pilings. Over one-third of the Pier was completely destroyed.
The City of Santa Monica created a non-profit in response to the damage and called it Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corporation (SMPRC). SMPRC conducted the daily operations of the Santa Monica Pier, such as managing events, filming, promotions, tenants, and street performers. To date, SMPRC has produced the Santa Monica Pier Paddle Board Race and the Twilight Summer Concert Series. Also, in 2011, SMPRC changed the company name to the Santa Monica Pier Corporation (SMPC).

What are you willing to do to get that one perfect shot? This one entailed stopping on a lift bridge on the highway and hanging out the window. Now I am not saying that was the smartest move, but in my defense, there was no traffic and I was only stopped for a second, hehe.
Determining the gender of a small- to medium-sized alligator usually entails a wrestling match, a flip, and a close inspection. This young male eliminated all doubt by exposing himself while preparing to fertilize a mudflat on Horsepen Bayou as a scandalized Snowy Egret (and kayaker) looks on.
From the 17th to the early 19th century, Amersham in Buckinghamshire was dominated by the Drake family - financially, politically and, as the family controlled the Anglican congregation, religiously too. The Drakes had acquired the Manor of Amersham, and among the privileges this entailed was the right to appoint two members of Parliament (mostly themselves) to London. This is one example of the "rotten boroughs", an injustice that was abolished in 1832. When you enter St Mary's, the Anglican Church in Amersham Old Town, you would find plenty of monuments praising the Drakes. However, on request you might even be ushered into a locked side chapel that is completely dedicated to the memory of the Drakes. In this side chapel you would also find Thomas Drake (18th century) contemplating on Matthew's gospel. This sculpture, in turn, might make you contemplate too.

When I was a very young child I would play a game of the above name, with my friends. It entailed chanting the above words and then blowing into a seed-head of a dandelion, and then saying "One o'clock". But if all the seeds had not been blown off, the procedure had to be repeated, and if any seeds remained we chanted "Two o'clock" and so on until all the seeds had gone. It didn't teach us to tell the time but it may have helped us learn to count. It certainly helped the propagation of dandelions , and it seemed fun at the time.

Kozłówka Palace is a large rococo and neoclassical palace complex of the Zamoyski family in Kozłówka, Lubartów County, Lublin Voivodeship in eastern Poland.
The palace was built between 1735 and 1742 and is one of Poland's official national Historic Monuments (Pomnik historii), as designated May 16, 2007, and tracked by the National Heritage Board of Poland. It currently houses the Zamoyski Family Museum in Kozłówka. The Kozłówka Landscape Park lies south of the palace complex.
The original palace was built in the first half of 18th century for Michał Bieliński, voivode of Chełmno; its architect was Jozef II Fontana. It represents the characteristic type of baroque suburban residence built entre cour et jardin (between the entrance court and the garden). Its architecture is original - a merger of European art with old Polish building traditions. In 1799, the Palace was acquired by the aristocratic Zamoyski family. It belonged to the family up until 1944. The palace experienced a period of great prosperity during the times of Count Konstanty Zamoyski who remodelled the palace in order to turn it into one of the most monumental and representative magnate residences in Poland.
Between 1879 and 1907, the palace was rebuilt in Neo-Baroque style, the chapel was modified (modelled on the chapel at Versailles Palace); a theatre, a second outbuilding and an entrance gate were also added. The palace also features a unique sewers system from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, which made it possible for the owners of the property to have access to some of the earliest modern bathrooms in Europe.
In 1903, the Kozłówka entail was established by Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, which meant that the property belonging to the Zamoyski family could not be sold or divided and automatically passed by law to the eldest heir.
In 1928, the chairman of the Polish Gymnastics Society Sokół, Count Adam Michał Zamoyski, organized a training camp in the palace gardens for the Polish national gymnastics team in preparation for the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam.
From November 1944, when the last owners Count Aleksander Zamoyski and his wife Countess Jadwiga Zamoyska were forced to flee their palace, it became the property of the Communist regime, whose grip on Poland ended in 1989. It currently hosts the Zamoyski family museum.
The interiors of the palace were preserved despite the ravages of the German Nazi and Soviet Regimes from 1939 to 1989. The original opulent design and most of museum quality art from the Zamoyski family collections remain.
The surroundings of the palace also include a historic chapel, French Baroque garden, stables and a carriage house. The palace grounds also feature the Gallery of Socrealism, the largest collection of communist art in Poland featuring over 1,600 sculptures, paintings, drawings and posters.

About the mountain up there in the middle, Huayna Potosí from where I am:
The first ascent of the normal route was undertaken in 1919 by Germans Rudolf Dienst and Adolf Schulze.
Some climbing books report this mountain as the "easiest 6000er in the world", but this claim is debatable. The easiest route entails an exposed ridge and sections of moderately steep ice, with a UIAA rating of PD.
There are many 6000m mountains that are easier to climb in terms of technical difficulty. Perhaps therefore, the main reason Huayna Potosí has been referred to as the easiest 6000m climb is that the elevation gain from trailhead to summit is less than 1400 m; with easy access from La Paz.
Since La Paz is at 3640 m, climbers have an easier time acclimatizing.
Red squirrels are feisty and territorial towards intruders, and confrontation between two red squirrels often entails a lot of tail flicking, chattering, and foot stomping. Though these actions may seem adorable to us as onlookers, it can mean that things are getting heated in a squirrel argument.
This tiny gem reveals itself in a most stealthy way. You come up a slight rise and before you is a downed 300 foot tree turned into a bridge spanning a washout and while you ogle that and wonder if you want to cross it this pops up behind some brush in a sudden clearing. I would have liked to back up on it, but that would have entailed a tumble down the cliff into Tahoma Creek. :-) I'll post the view the other way for reference next time.
A composite of three images generated in Dream by Wombo entailing a lot of manual cloning work and merging in PS. Some reconstructive, additive, subtractive and transformative post-work was also applied. Admittedly the composition is a bit too busy, but as far as a proof-of-concept experiment goes, I'm reasonably happy with the results.
A scene that warmed the heart of this particular railfan catches a covered and functioning stabling point, together with shiny tracks, and a collection of semaphores. Oh, and a pair of 1970s-built 'Grids' operating one of the few locomotive-hauled services to visit the area.
Based in Preston, this was the first full day of our tour of the north-west and we opted for a brief visit to the port town of Holyhead - so brief in fact that arrival was at 11.44am and departure at 1.07pm. Nevertheless the tight window gave me time to search out the footbridge not too far from the station and capture the incoming Rail-Head Treatment Train, and thus snap the service we'd passed as it stood looped in Llandudno Junction station. Happy days!
I had time to take a shot of it heading back towards Bangor too, but this one made the better image I thought. A pity the old, and much more convenient, entrance to Holyhead station seems to be out of service. Getting out now entails walking across a long footbridge into town and the phone I was using as a map (which indicated the original entrance) pointed out the walk would now take me almost 10 minutes longer than I had anticipated and risk me missing it’s arrival. Happily good luck prevailed.
For the record, Colas units 56094 and 56096 are doing the honours, and the train is the previous day's 9.20pm Shrewsbury Coleham - Shrewsbury Coleham (3S71) RHTT service.

This particular way of sightseeing also entails background music and plenty of laughs. The starting point of the Ebbelwei-Express is at the zoo, but you can hop on and off at any of the stops.

Passengers for "The 'Pool" wait quietly at Green Lane station as class 508 no. 508122 drops down into the underground section for the final leg of its journey into Liverpool, which will entail travelling under the River Mersey.
The train is the 11.01 Chester - Liverpool - Chester (2C20) which, on arrival in Liverpool, will do a clockwise loop around the city centre before heading back under the Mersey to Birkenhead and Chester, a round trip of just under an hour and a half.
The journey from here to Liverpool Lime Street is about 10 minutes, so there's plenty of time to listen to a certain Jam tune while living the experience.

Hi everyone,
This was my first Monarch cat sighting this season! It was pretty difficult to capture because it entailed me creeping under a guard rail without losing balance on the steep grade. I clicked a few shots and then backed up under the rail to terra firma! Shortly after that I saw a Monarch flying around, but wasn't able to get a photo of it.
Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving me a comment. I do love hearing from you!
Have a marvelous day!

It seems my desktop PC is having issues so I don't have access to my photos just now. The photos on my Laptop are older ones but I am just going to add one of the butterfly shots that I took at the Butterfly house in New York last fall. I sure do dislike computer issues as it always entails a trip to the repair shot an hour drive away! Guess what I am doing today! LOL I will say that Anita and I had a lovely day out yesterday and traveled up north a bit and got some nice photos and saw some cool stuff that I hope to be able to share with you soon! :) Enjoy your day!
Bitterns like to hide among cattails; in fact, they do an excellent imitation of a cattail stalk. They've fooled me many a time. This time, however, the bittern was at the margin of a small wetland, where last year's tall grass provided some cover. To reach the safety of a dense stand of cattails would entail crossing open ground, and so he tried to fool me into thinking he was grass. It almost worked...

Solitaire and solitude is not the same as loneliness!
A distinction has been made between solitude and loneliness.
In this sense, these two words refer, respectively, to the joy and the pain of being alone.
Solitaires like being alone, happy with just themselves and their world.
That does not mean that you are not social!
I love being with people however I am not sad when I am alone.
Solitude does not necessarily entail feelings of loneliness, and in fact may, for those who choose it with deliberate intent, be one's sole source of genuine pleasure.
Loneliness is a complex and usually unpleasant emotional response to isolation.
Loneliness typically includes anxious feelings about a lack of connection or communication with other beings, both in the present and extending into the future.
As such, loneliness can be felt even when surrounded by other people and one who feels lonely, is lonely.
The causes of loneliness are varied and include social, mental, emotional, and physical factors.
Take care, be safe!
Have a good day and thanks for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

The Wisconsin and Southern E9s had the 2002 Baraboo Circus Train rolling somewhere in Milwaukee.
The Great Circus Parade, which featured historic circus wagons from the Circus World Museum, was held in Milwaukee in 1963, and in various cities between 1985 and 2005, primarily Milwaukee (1985–2003) and Baraboo, Wisconsin (2004–2005).
When held in Milwaukee, the parade entailed a two-day journey by train across Wisconsin, from Baraboo to Milwaukee, making brief stops at cities along the way.
