Was going to title this "Nature's embrace" which I think fitted very well too. But this view reminded me of something and then the name just popped up from my unconscious mind. Loved these figures from the first beginning when reading Tolkien's saga.

Un Ent es un guardián de los bosques, híbrido entre hombre y árbol. Sus brazos están formados por ramas y sus pies encajan como un tronco de árbol. Tienen también largas hojas que cambian de color durante el invierno, aunque rara vez se caen. Miden entre 4 y 5 metros. Su piel es una gruesa corteza marrón que lo hace casi indistinguible de los árboles.

This tree is also known as "The tree" and is a hidden location at Dolly Sods Preserve in West Virginia. He stands out surrounded by firs as an Ent tree described in the Lord of the Ring. I used a wide angle to create the idea the trees are paying homage to him. I was hoping to see some sun light showing up and I my hope came true.
Sindarin turned happy with all the animals that had come to see him that day. There were times when he couldn't move, when chicks came out of one of the nests between his branches. He then had to wait several days until the chicks were not in danger of falling. He didn't care. Time passes differently for the Ent compared to most living beings. His years were minutes to him, and the seasons were just mood swings of the nature that affected his body. The joy of that morning was clouded by news from the dark woods. In the Fairlands an area of forest was so deep and dense that they called it the dark woods. It was not that there were no inhabitants there, but it was more difficult to see them outside their lands. Some ravens had perched on his branches and whispered to him about some dark ancient magic that a great wizard was summoning in those woods. He remembered that another little bird had told him about the queen of the fairlands' near-fatal wound... Was that today or several years ago? The memories of him crowded together and he could only discuss it with the rest of his clan to see what decision they made.

Pine trees are nice. The sunshine on the trunks and branches makes 'em simply wonderful and a bit fairy. A panorama of 3 shots (hdr) from the location I like.
Finally, the weather let me go outside. It's pretty cold (about -20 Celsius) but sunny and photographer's friendly:-)

I'm reading the lord of the rings right now for the first time. The Ents are a really thrilling creation of Tolkien and this tree seems almost sad considering the vast forests and how they are alive and animated as almost a family. Nevertheless it's a beautiful Ent all alone in this sea of green.
Short hike through a local park and I ran across this tree. Interesting bark, but it reminded me of the description of an "Ent' from "the Lord of the Rings" .
