So... On my 13th trip over to Greylake, the Baikal teal was actually visible and actually close enough to photograph. Not the best shot in the world, but a marked improvement on the last one. :@]

In de kelder van dit gebouw is een gloednieuwe fietsenstalling!
I did have a steam and fence shot, but I've left that at home, this one is a reminder of the snow just before Christmas so festive and now just a distant memory it would seem.
Got knocked back from a fence group last week, so this one is a little more obvious:) hope it is ok.
Happy fence Friday!

"It's not enough to have a dream, unless you're willing to pursue it. It's not enough to know what's right, unless you're strong enough to do it. It's not enough to learn the truth, unless you also learn to live it. It's not enough to reach for love, unless you care enough to give it. Men who are resolved to find a way for themselves will always find opportunities enough; and if they do not find them, they will make them."

There’s another new hair from eXxEsS, and it’s another beautiful short one following on from the recent Gin hair. It’s called Oxenia and you should go and buy it right now! The pose is a combination of a cute sitting pose from the new set recently issued by Signature Pose and the one included in the new yumminess now available from Imeka at the Kawaii Project.

This is a common gallinule. Once thought to be the same species as the common moorhen found it Europe, but it was officially declared a separate species in 2011. Found this guy pecking around like a chicken before sliding into the water to swim like a duck.
This red-shouldered hawk was kind enough to give me a warm send off at the end of a recent outing at the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge . This shot was captured toward the end of the day and the lighting wasn't fantastic, but being as the hawk was so obliging I couldn't resist.

“I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who’s ever lived: I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.” - Nicholas Sparks
This butterfly landed on tiny flowers long enough for me to capture this image. I noticed that the lower wings were quite battered. There are so many dangers butterflies face in their short lives. Predators can try to grasp their wings or butterflies can bump into dense shrubbery to access flowers for nectar or to find host plants to lay their eggs. Any contact their wings make with another surface will cause scales to be rubbed off...and these do not regrow.

As always I extend my sincere gratitude to all who are kind enough to comment and fave my photos or even stop by and just have a look. It is very much appreciated.

We were lucky enough to watch this heron for several minutes as it struggled to dispatch it's rather large prey.
Any help with the fish identification will gratefully be received. I suspect now that it's a short spined sea scorpion.

For where all love is, the speaking is unnecessary. It is all. It is undying. And it is enough.

I did quite a bit of rambling in this post. Moral to the story...be kind to yourself, and each other!

I’m working on a composite piece, but I just couldn’t get it done tonight. I kind of like this experimental early version though, and maybe it fits the theme over at We’re Here! well enough that they’ll let me play.
The Hereios are visiting Upside Down!.
Macro Mondays theme Fill the Frame
I don't know why but I found this theme really difficult. The framing and getting close enough was tough, luckily I didn't have to crop anything out (and I forgot to measure but I'm pretty sure this fits well within the group’s restrictions).
Happy Macro Monday! 😊
The matriarch on the left is giving all the signs that we in our jeep are close enough to her daughter and babe. She let out a loud trumpet and stepped towards us and I shifted into reverse and headed out of there. Then appeared a whole family as they continued their peaceful browsing. That would be 50 to 200 kilos per day (at least!).
