While traveling to the Stokksnes peninsula located in Southern Iceland, we came upon this impressive mountain emphasized by steep slopes and a widest spectrum of natural colors.

Approximately half of the country's population practice traditional religion,[12] which tends to emphasize links between the living and the razana (ancestors). The veneration of ancestors has led to the widespread tradition of tomb building, as well as the highlands practice of the famadihana, whereby a deceased family member's remains may be exhumed to be first carried in a procession with musicians and then rinsed and re-wrapped in fresh silk shrouds, also known as lambas, before being replaced in the tomb.

Almost half the Malagasy are Christian, with practitioners of Protestantism slightly outnumbering adherents to Roman Catholicism, and today, many Christians integrate their religious beliefs with traditional ones related to honoring the ancestors.

Consonance in photography refers to the repetition or similarity of visual elements within a photograph, such as color, shape, texture, or pattern. This repetition creates a sense of harmony and unity within the image, drawing the viewer's eye and creating a cohesive visual experience. Consonance can be used to create a sense of rhythm or movement within an image, and can also be used to emphasize certain elements or themes within a photograph.

Some time ago, when I was on the road in the Swabian Alb looking for photo motifs, I noticed the wind turbines and the atmosphere. Just at the moment I was taking pictures, several of the wind turbines were in sync.

I must have looked ridiculous, lying flat on my belly to get the shot. Thankfully, there weren't many people about to have a laugh.

I cropped some repetitive sky and bridge off to emphasize the lines.

Kinkaku-ji "Temple of the Golden Pavilion"), officially named Rokuon-ji, lit. "Deer Garden Temple"), is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan.

The garden complex is an excellent example of Muromachi period garden design. The Muromachi period is considered to be a classical age of Japanese garden design. The correlation between buildings and its settings were greatly emphasized during this period. It was a way to integrate the structure within the landscape in an artistic way. The garden designs were characterized by a reduction in scale, a more central purpose, and a distinct setting.

A minimalistic approach was brought to the garden design, by recreating larger landscapes in a smaller scale around a structure.

It is designated as a National Special Historic Site and a National Special Landscape, and it is one of 17 locations comprising the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto World Heritage Site. It is also one of the most popular buildings in Japan, attracting a large number of visitors annually.

This was given the panoramic slice to emphasize the power of the horizontal planes in this photograph. There is a stronger sense of the clouds coming at you in this version than the earlier non-panoramic version.

Detail of the virgin Mary statue behind the high altar. A special design feature is the window behind the Madonna's head, the window acts as a halo, an effect emphasized by the golden rays emanating from the window.

St. Maria (St. Mary) is a Wallfahrtskirche (pilgrimage church) located in Thalkirchen, in the south of Munich. The church was built in Gothic style around 1390, replacing a Romanesque predecessor. The steeple still has some late Romanesque features. In 1693-1698 the church was converted to Baroque style, the appearance of the Madonna with the windew behind is a Rococo work by Ignaz Günther dating to 1759-1769.

Basilica San Vitale is one of the monuments of Ravenna and an important example of Byzantine art in Western Europe.

Construction on the church began in AD 527 and was completed in AD 548 during the reign of Emperor Justinian. The building is known for the best preserved Byzantine mosaics outside of Constantinople. The founder of the mosaics was probably the Byzantine emperor Justinian the Great, who wanted to emphasize the power of the state by building a temple.

The church, unlike a typical basilica, was erected on an octagonal plan with niches.

Church of St. Witalis is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

It's been several years since I was able to take advantage of a snow covered city for doing photography. The last few Winters have given us milder temperatures and've been almost completely snowless. This year we've been having a lot so I've made a commitment to get as many Winter shots in as I can as there just aren't that many in my portfolio.

We had a heavy snowfall and when I got up and when I saw that it was still happening, I jumped to it, got dressed quickly and dashed out the door, iPhone at the ready.

It's a wholly different beast shooting with a lot of snow around. The camera reads it as very bright and compensates for the tremendous amount of reflective "bounce" that's saturating the air with light. With muted, cloudy skies this tends to bleach out all the colour from the world and leave only basic earth tones and varying blacks and whites.

So in processing this I decided to keep that almost monochrome feeling but emphasizing how much this red brick house stands out on a muted, grayed-out, snowy day. I eliminated all the other colour except for red and added a hint of "ancient text" texturing for a softer touch.

According to ancient Christian stories, Viola is also the face of Christ, the Son of God. From hidden corners it stares at the faithful, the kneeling peasant, the gatherer and the shepherd. As Mary's plant, it emphasizes her humble existence in the shadow of the God who chose her, a timid little woman who cannot comprehend the salvific work of her motherhood. This especially concerns the March Violet, which, fragrant and adorned in blue, suits Mary as a desirable girl.

Thought it was time to do another Still Life arrangement. I wanted to keep it simple and just emphasize the colors of autumn. Press L for a closer look. (Edited in Lightroom, Photoshop and Topaz)

Used vignette to try and emphasize the open sky in the middle to make it look more centered to where the person is standing . Cant remember the camera settings on this one .

Meanwhile, it has started to drizzle and the desolation and gloom of the western coast of the island are emphasized by this.

The devastation of the sea since the island was returned to nature becomes clear here.

The sea has mercilessly struck back here and recaptured what humanity has taken from it.

The large chunk in the foreground is not a piece of rock, but a large piece of the bottom of the salt marsh that has been torn off the sand by the fiercing waves.

Along the line of the surf during high tide there are also pieces of the former salt marsh, but these are further crunched at high tide and stronger wind. On the side of the piece in the foreground you can clearly see the remnants of the root systems of the former vegetation....

It is the presence of milky fog that allows me to control the scenography here and emphasize the depth of the scene.

For a separate the foreground and theatrical backdrop as much as possible.

With a closed aperture, which is necessary here, this can be done with only a few tricks.

For example, in cinema we used pyrotechnics - the effect of smoke and spotlights.

in general, I am satisfied with the result of the picture, given that it is from a boat that rocks and floats with the current, and the stream moves along the bridge. A kaleidoscope in one word, changing rhythms every second..

There must have been some unusual angle plus warp on the window at the bottom to get this crazy reflection. This is one of the park buildings. I added a bit of grunge to emphasize the texture.

HWW!

A more closer look of "Pattern" (see first comment box). The texture reminds me of stone, so I did some processing to emphasize that.

The paper I used is 'glassine', which is great photogenic paper because of its translucency.

Because of some comments, I want to emphasize that this is not a wild snake. It is taken in Oslo Reptile Park in 2013.

While I was working with the holly berries I noticed that the theme for Crazy Tuesdays was "Red" and that got me thinking of a shot that really emphasized the red color of the berries. I tried a few different things but with each series of shots I moved further down the rabbit hole in my study of making larger and larger focus stacks. This grouping of berries measures about 1.75 in. wide X 1.5 in. tall, but has about 1 in. of depth and the leaf is on the diagonal making for a tricky focus stack. I tried a few different techniques but finally decided to bite the bullet and try something I've been thinking about. Instead of marking the front and back focus on the lens and then turning the focus ring a bit for each exposure I would take shots wherever I wanted fine detail in the final image. The technique involved shooting every detail and edge for each berry and leaf and led to way more individual shots (31 in total). I was surprised that it worked out pretty well with fewer areas to fix in post. This shot is the result after aligning, stacking and processing in Photoshop.

With setting sun and cloud shadows emphasizing the “black” in Black Canyon, a Canadian National potash train rumbles along the Thompson River west of Ashcroft, British Columbia, on the afternoon of September 24, 2015. Five locomotives power the eastbound train that is about to cross the Thompson on a truss bridge and dive directly into a curved tunnel in the heart of this rugged canyon.

EUROPEAN BRAND - Crotchless bodystocking is made from a sheer black material makes your body slimmer. It gives you the look of stockings and a corset and yet is all in one. It wonderfully emphasizes woman’s body and makes your legs look slimmer. - Exclusively from Europe, this line is one of the most recognized luxury brand and erotic lingerie in Europe. This dynamic brand was created to distinguish a unique character; in fulfilling the imagination and dreams to inspire desire.

More fun with Spring showers and rain drops. An experimental technique using intentional camera movement with second curtain flash to create a drizzling rain effect. I felt that monochrome better emphasized the atmospheric quality and drops. Does this effectively create a sense of movement with the falling rain? Happy Monochrome Bokeh Thursday!

I constructed this pair composite from images I took in 2021. I usually don't make a big deal about emphasizing copyright protection and enforcement but this unfortunately needs to be emphasized especially for my composite work.

The day kind of got away from me - thought it was still Saturday today. This is a recent photo with the sun trying unsuccessfully to push through the lower cloud base. There was just a hint of warm light in the clouds, which I emphasized to fit into the Sliders Sunday theme.

A telephoto lens can be put to good use even in a slot canyon. Here I wanted to emphasize the texture of the foreground slice of sandstone and throw the background slightly out of focus. The 70-200 mm was well-suited.

The Brakel house, which was completed in 1768, is part of the current Brakel estate, after an earlier house was destroyed by the French in 1672. The house and estate are located in the town of Brakel, in the Dutch municipality of Zaltbommel. The house was built near the ruins of Brakel Castle. This castle lost its residential function in the course of the 18th century (after more than 4 centuries of habitation) and fell into ruins within a century. Through an inheritance, Brakel came into the hands of Wilhelmus van Dam van Brakel in 1809. It was he who shaped the house and estate in the way it still stands today.

The house was built in a neoclassical architectural style, with the main house being connected to the coach house by means of a bell tower. In the 19th century it was customary to provide neoclassical (country) houses with or without white plaster. Houses in Gelderland such as house Verwolde and villa Brakkesteyn are good examples of this. What is special about Brakel house is that an intermediate form has been chosen in which the main house is only partially plastered in white. Only the walls to the left and right of the large windows at the front are plastered.

When Wilhelmus van Dam van Brakel had the estate laid out in the landscape style, the ruins of Castle Brakel were included in the park as a romantic accent. Including ruins in a park or landscaping was more common in the 19th century. However, Brakel is the only surviving example of this in Gelderland. During the construction of the park, the nostalgic and picturesque qualities of the ruin were emphasized. When the gardens (completed in 1811) were laid out, designs by landscape architect Hendrik van Lunteren were emphatically taken into account.

In 1884 he declared himself to be the Mahdi. This caused controversy with the French and many orthodox Muslims. His message emphasized prayer, alms, social justice and cleanliness.

The sculpture was constructed by the Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrázabal at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. Its exaggerated size is said to emphasize human vulnerability and helplessness.

The sculpture also was meant to convey emotions related to injustice, loneliness, sadness and torture.

The work has a base of iron and concrete, and stands 11 metres (36 ft) tall. Funded by Corporación Pro Antofagasta, a local booster organization, the sculpture was inaugurated on 28 March 1992.

It has since become a point of interest for tourists traveling Route 5, which forms part of the Pan-American Highway.
