The EMLE program—established in 1990 and supported by the European Commission—is a globally respected interdisciplinary initiative that brings together top students and faculty from law and economics. Students in the program earn multiple degrees from a prestigious consortium of international universities.

Now, for the first time, EMLE has a North American home. The Center for the Philosophy of Freedom, in partnership with the James E. Rogers College of Law, is proud to host the third term of the program in Tucson. EMLE Arizona students will explore topics at the intersection of law, justice, markets, and technology in courses like Justice, Law, and Capitalism and Regulation of Emerging Technologies.

The University of Arizona joined the EMLE consortium in December 2023 as its first American member. The inaugural Arizona cohort of 11 international students arrived April 2025, marking the beginning of our transatlantic academic collaboration. The event was celebrated in a celebration on April 24 at the Cork & Craft restaurant on the U of A campus.
