man, the seven nights i spent in paris w emily shoulda coulda woulda been the best week of both our lives. our apartment had three beds but there was only two of us left to fill them. we had a terrific time and i am so thankful; i was reminded of why she is the most important person in my world, the most important thing in my world next to food (the greatest lesson i learned from my trip). i had put all my eggs into two baskets and now i’m only down to one. we had both been emptied and we are years away from being full, decades/never i hope, but we managed to feel great and only fight one and a half times and spent the rest of the time laughing about nothing and i forgot that was even possible. i want to do every day all over again, being naked more often than not, chain smoking in bed/on the roof/in the bathroom while puttin on makeup, 20+ bottles of wine and coming home from the club wasted at 5 am collapsing while she stick n pokes my ankle and then curling up into a little ball on the kitchen floor to weep and shake. why wasn’t he there with us. why wasn’t he living out this dream we all dreamt together when we were thirteen.
being abroad with the best friend i have left was the safest i’ve ever felt in my life perhaps, not the best but probably the most secure. all i need is her. i love home and most everyone there but i can’t describe how wonderful it felt to be on a different continent with only her.

1951 historical marker placed by the Brooklyn Engineer's Club on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Emily Roebling famously oversaw the construction of the bridge to completion after her father-in-law, bridge designer John Roebling, died of tetanus following an injury received while working on the bridge, and her husband, Colonel Washington Roebling, contracted the bends and became bedridden from working in the compressed air of the bridge caissons.

Emily and Laurel were making pictures near some brick gate when I met them. I took a few for them using their phone and then my camera. I then suggested moving to the other corner to take advantage of the last light from the day.
