I am one of those people who really enjoy Christmas. I enjoy it for many reasons, not least of all because I get to give gifts I have gathered throughout the year to my family and friends.
I shop for gifts all year around, and then hide them in places about the house where my partner won't find them (if they are for him) and in places out of the way for other recipients who might be visiting.
In the lead up to Christmas, my dining room becomes a wonderland of Christmas wrapping and trimmings which I joking call the Christmas Wrapping Bureau, as I usually end up wrapping all my partner's presents as well as my own. However another reason I like Christmas is that I love wrapping gifts, playing with ribbons and bright paper.
They are all done and are nestled 'neath my tree, ready for Christmas Day!

So here we go with the next generation of the granny square parasol. This time I put together some squares, triangles and granny pentagons around a granny octagon which is the center of the umbrella. I choosed 13 colours plus black for bordering and joined them like a swirl in rainbow order. When I finished with the tiny granny squares I tried the project on the base and found it... BORING! It was too... "heavy" to see! So I decided to break the line of it and finished with triangles for a "dangerous", pointy look! @;)
I designed it during the long way to home from Poland, after a crazy weekend ( more about the trevelling and the exhibition here: www.flickr.com/photos/babukatorium/5880612751/in/photostream ), inspired by the oldest daughter of Vagina Cafe's owner called Anna. She loved the first Granny Square Parasol ( www.flickr.com/photos/babukatorium/5794836620/in/photostream ) and took a lots of pictures about it! She shown me the photos on the camera and promised me to send them for publishing for You... but it seems that we have to wait a little bit longer because the camera has broken and takes time to repair it (if it's even possible)! >;( Until that moment let's try to enjoy this new one with another wonderful model! XD It won't be that hard, I think! LOL
She is Barbi, my oldest cousin who helped me already with other photo sets (like the spiderweb tree). It's a pleasure to work with Her, She has an excellent body control, always smiling and looks pretty good in anything I give Her to wear! @;)
The dress is made of 100% cotton crochet yarns. I wanted to create a colorful assymetric dress which can be worn not only in summer time (in fact over jeans and a t-shirt it gives the best!)... Different shaped and sized flower motifs are able to let us forget those grey autumn days when the only thing we want is hiding under a cosy blanket in front of the tv! XD
The shoes are mine, embellished with rainbow buttons ( bought from www.etsy.com/shop/schOOLLOcker )... Sometimes I need to make something for myself too, OK?! LOL
Here is a beautiful emerald-green wild bee (Anthophila, Hymenoptera) visiting a new autumn flower on a native (but weedy) Telegraph Weed (Heterotheca grandiflora, Asteraceae). I believe the bee is a Sweat Bee (Halictidae), maybe a Metallic Sweat Bee (Agapostemon or Augochlorella). HBBBT! (San Marcos Pass, 10 October 2021)

"Rivoli's Hummingbird Wings" by Patti Deters. This tiny hummingbird is just landing among the tree branches and his wings have been photographed mid-flutter. Sunlight filters through the golden foliage, casting a gentle glow on the little hummer's iridescent feathers. This is a Rivoli's Hummingbird (Eugenes fulgens) and is actually one of the larger hummingbirds found north of Mexico. Males have a brilliant emerald green or blue-green throat (gorget) that flashes vividly in the right light. The species has had several name changes over the years, including Magnificent Hummingbird, which is why many birders still call these winged jewels "Mags". Thank you for viewing this picture. I'm having a blast this summer with home grown colorful vegetables. Tomatoes, Mint, Lime, Jalapeno, Cayenne and Anaheim peppers are ready to use, which means more food shots coming up ;) I'm getting buckets full everyday, time isn't far when my neighbors would get sick of my cordiality and say thanks but please no more vegetables :o)

This lake was recently voted to the most beautiful place inside Austria.
This is a shot of the Lighthouse erected on the northern tip of Skopelos Island, Greece, at Cape Gourouni, viewed from afar. The 46-ft (14-m) high tower is rectangular and made of stone. The lighthouse has got a luminous range of 20 nautical miles; it functioned in 1884 for the first time.

With its unique moments and memories that will last a lifetime, 2013 is a year that I am very happy to put behind me. Mostly, I'm so thankful for my family and friends who were loyal to me throughout the year as well as some new people I was lucky enough to meet. I'm not sure where the new year will lead, but I hope its adventures will be interesting!

Voidomatis river located in the prefecture of Ioannina in Epirus is an affluent of the River Aoos. Early Sunday morning, I went to the East Shore in the middle of the night, hoping to shoot some images of the Milky Way moving through clear skies, but by the time I arrived, it had clouded over. When sunrise came, there were about four minutes of great light on the puffy clouds that represented the leading edge of the storm. Here's one of my favorites.
