The Erasmus University Medical Center (Erasmus MC) based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, affiliated with Erasmus University and home to its faculty of medicine, is the "largest and one of the most authoritative scientific University Medical Centers in Europe." With 1320 beds it is the second largest hospital of the Netherlands, only 19 beds behind UMC Groningen.

Shown here is the atrium of the new EMC (Erasmus Medical Centre) designed by EMG - project architect Willemineke Hammer. it's a vast and almost desorienting space which is partly dominated by the enormous 'Duna' sculpture (Jaume Plensa). It's fascinating how it changes its surroundings - like many of his enormous statues seem to do.
In the BG is the old hospital (1962, Rotterdam functionalism, Viergever and Den Hollander which in due course will be demolished.
