The Council of Trent (Latin: Concilium Tridentinum), held between 1545 and 1563 in the Duomo (Cathedral) of Trento was one of the Roman Catholic Church's most important ecumenical councils. Prompted by the Protestant Reformation, it has been described as the embodiment of the Counter-Reformation.
Mistakenly called 'The Big Buddha of Chiang Rai' this is actually a massive figure of Guanyin, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy. It's hard to tell from this image, but it's a 26 floor elevator ride to the top of the inside of her head. You can view the surrounding countryside from her eyes and various other openings at the top.
Wikipedia: In Chinese mythology, Guanyin is the goddess of mercy and considered to be the physical embodiment of compassion. She is an all-seeing, all-hearing being who is called upon by worshipers in times of uncertainty, despair, and fear. Guanyin is originally based on the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. Avalokiteśvara's myth spread throughout China during the advent of Buddhism and mixed with local folklore in a process known as syncretism to become the modern day understanding of Guanyin.

Nearly devoid of color (and warmth!) but not of beauty, Rannoch Moor on this cold April day was the embodiment of a stark and desolate wilderness. This had been intended as a day of numerous scenic stops, but the strong winds, temperatures hovering just above freezing, and the rain/snow mix dispensed by the clouds, laid challenge to that plan. After getting soaked at Glenfinnan and wind-whipped at a viewpoint in Glen Coe, I thought perhaps we would enjoy the views of Rannoch Moor from the car.
The dark storm clouds dumping snow on the hills seemed to reinforce that decision. But as the sky started to lighten, we pulled into the car park for a view of the moor. With some trepidation we set out to climb the hill to the viewpoint, picking our way across the rocky ground and a very muddy peat bog. Due to the mud we did not make it to the top of the hill, but found some rocks to stand on that offered a vantage point with sweeping views of the moor, the lochs, and the surrounding mountains.
The gusty winds made it a rather precarious perch however, and I was having trouble holding the camera, and myself, steady, so once again I took very few photos. But as I took in the austere beauty of this barren, windswept moor, I felt a deep connection to this place. And in that fiercely blowing wind found something deeper than a photo to carry home with me.
Often in photography the muted colors of autumn are cast aside in favor of the vibrant reds and golds. Autumn is, in many ways, the natural world's embodiment of Dylan Thomas' poem, "Do not go gentle into that good night," where the trees and greenery in their annual old age "burn and rave at close of day."
But, the muted tones, that begin to increasingly creep in during shortened days, have a story to tell like wise men, for they too will not last long into winter. In higher elevations in the Eastern Sierra, such as this, these features will also become monochrome, with very little richness in their hues once covered in snow.
As I searched furtively for more vibrance, I paused and took in the spectacle of these more muted tones and thought how, in their own way, they were raging against the dying of the light.

On a cold morning in March 2016, I sat shivering and sheltering under a tree as heavy rain and strong winds lashed Lake Pehoé behind me. It was the tail-end of a fierce storm that had been battering us for hours, but it was almost over, and the light to follow it would be the making of photography dreams.
Light of the Cuernos is a wild, mountainous photo of Torres Del Paine national park and is one of my all-time most cherished and adorned photographs. It represents the passion and pursuit of landscape photography with the interplay of mother nature's ferocity at its best.
The combination of weather and light captured in this image is a true embodiment of the phrase "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" - making this a genuinely one-off and highly collectible piece.

This image was created from multiple exposures blended together in Photoshop CS6 layers using the "Lighten" blend mode. All exposures were taken with a single Paul C. Buff Einstein strobe with a 22" beauty dish attached to a Elinchrom boom arm and a 3-stop B&W ND filter attached to my lens. Tanah Lot is the home to the ancient Hindu pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot. It sits on a large offshore rock and is only accessible on foot at low tide.
The Temple is one of the seven main Balinese "sea temples".Its name means "land in the sea" in the Balinese language. The main deity of the temple is Dewa Baruna, also known as Bhatara Segara, the sea god or embodiment of sea power.
The shrine appears completely different when a line of white-clad devotees and pilgrims winds up the winding pass from the bottom to the top of the temple.

When people envision the perfect Tuscan hill town they are usually picturing this little gem, Pienza a rather unassuming little town that punches well above its weight due to some Papal proclivity to make it into a model city. Pope Pius II was born here a key proponent of humanist ideals of his time so much so he enlisted the greats of the day to design the picture-perfect embodiment of that philosophy making it an idyllic hill town as well as a perfect summer retreat. Piacenza is also a very cheesy town but in a good way as it is the top producer of Tuscan Pecorino cheese and the top key ingredient of one of my favorite Tuscan dishes pici con cacio e pepe, basically just fat spaghetti with Pecorino, black pepper and pasta water but sublime when prepared properly.

* A shot taken exactly one year ago It's hard to imagine now . The most exciting thing I do now is going for a walk in the countryside near Hull. I miss the possibility of travel, a trip to Dorset in June is already cancelled and the road trip in Australia we were planning in September looks highly unlikely . I know these are minor inconveniences compared to the dreadful situation that many families in Britain and around the world are experiencing .
Right now when I think ahead to the possibility of travel its not for anywhere exotic . I look forward to the next time I can actually walk by the seashore.
Back to the image it was taken in the hills above Chiang Mai . The fantastic temple complex of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is an impressive embodiment of the Lanna culture and is a symbol deeply cherished by the people of Chiang Mai. The temple's origins date back almost seven hundred years, to 1382 and the legend surrounding the founding of the temple is one of those mysteries of Asia . Ceremonial gold parasols were added at the four corners of the Chedi in the 16th century and pilgrims make merit by sticking gold leaf to the parasol shafts. In the background can be seen two of the highly decorated Wihans. I have actually reduced the saturation in the image. It was the highlight of our trip to wander round this temple complex certainly one of the beautiful buildings I have seen on my travels

This was one of those shots that I simply made in order to check exposer as it was getting really dark. I really did not even know what I was shooting. When I saw it later on, I actually thought to myself. Wow, this is the embodiment of L.A. So I kept it. If I believed in luck I would say I was lucky, but I don't so I will call it fortunate.

Holly #1 - she was always an elite athlete. Even when we got our cat fence enclosure to keep them all safe, she was one who could still do acrobatics and get out. We lost Holly in 2020 and will miss her forever.
(Our Holly #2 is such an embodiment of her that it was shocking, just the spirit of her, and the recognition we felt! When Ken & I saw her at the truck stop in Mississippi, we both called out HOLLY! It was strange, for sure!

Happy Christmas means enjoying real happiness coming from within Christ consciousness. All experience of happiness comes from within, for the source of happiness lies in our self which is our divine self Atman or Christ consciousness being the source of happiness. So all the happiness every being enjoys and experiences comes from within.
Someone may say nice words to us or do nice things to us or give us presents and this activity of the others makes us happy ….. but this happiness comes from inside us for it opens our spiritual heart and lets the love or happiness inherent in it to flow outwards so our body senses can feel it.
This happiness did not came from any where else but from our divine self, for our divine self is the source of happiness and only from it, it can flow outwards.
Our self lies inside our spiritual heart, actually it is our spiritual heart and so love and happiness can flow only from our heart. That is why we say “heart to heart communion” for only between hearts we can have communion of love and joy or bliss.
If we feel sad and experience unhappiness the reason is that we have closed our spiritual heart and the inherent flow of joy that is our self cannot pass and flow through a closed heart. Our false ego being offended closes the door of our spiritual heart and we feel cold and abandoned. No one else has caused this distress we feel, we are the ones that caused this distress by closing the door of our heart so the bliss of Atma, of our self, can not reach our outer body senses. The cause of our unhappiness is not due to others but of our ego self that distance itself from the real self the Atman which sits in our spiritual heart. We feel distress and unhappiness only when we distance away from our divine self and identify with our false ego which is the creation of illusion and ignorance.
So the wise say we are the embodiments of supreme bliss and love, only if you are immersed in ignorance you experience unhappiness and distress. Ignorance is your real enemy for only ignorance is causing you unhappiness. The more the ignorance you have, the more the unhappiness you experience. A rich man is a man who experiences all the time joy, a poor man is the one who experiences distress, fear and agony most of the time with very few intervals of real happiness.
So celebrating the birth of Christ means we celebrate the birth of Christ consciousness inside us by letting the bliss of the Atman to pour to our body senses. To open our hearts and let the bliss of the self to saturate our being!
So we wish you a Happy Christmas means we wish you to open your heart by overcoming ego and ignorance and experience the unlimited joy that lies inside you, inside your Atman, inside your real self!

I have chosen to become the embodiment of Taurus, my real life sign. My outfit mirrors the sign's distinctive traits with a futuristic avant Garde twist.
Starting with a sculpted corset to accentuate the Taurean strength. My ensemble features bold, sculptural shoulder pads, symbolizing the Taurus's determination and unwavering strength. The garment's fabric incorporates cutting-edge technology, mirroring Taurus's affinity for innovation.
Metallic studs and intricate embroidery emulate Taurus's attention to detail and appreciation for craftsmanship. Futuristic geometric patterns flow along the outfit, reflecting their practicality and keen eye for aesthetics. My hair is styled to resemble bull horns, representing Taurus' steadfastness and resilience.
With this avant-garde creation, I show the Taurus's inherent qualities with a futuristic edge, embracing their timeless essence while pushing boundaries of style and imagination.
