Quick self portrait on the right page. Courtney Love as a goddess on the left. I've gone over this page three times.
It's hard to see the shading, but Wil made some hills in the background with some other headstones to give some great depth to the back of the sleeve.
The Elliott Smith Memorial Wall on Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles CA
I took this photo soon after the news spread that Elliott had died. I lived in Los Angeles at the time and frequently drove by (before and after his death) this wall where Elliott was photographed for the cover of his “Figure 8” album. It was no surprise that it became a memorial for him after his death. People began writing personal messages on the wall and handwritten letters were left on the sidewalk next to candles and framed photographs. I have a few more photos of this memorial here: www.sxtyfoursquares.com/Photo/elliott_smith/elliott_smith...
Dayler wallets are handmade using artwork and Japanese magazine clippings sandwiched between layers of clear vinyl. On the inside is a large pocket to stash your cash and two smaller pockets for your I.D., business cards, credit cards, etc. Several cards can fit nicely in one pocket.

The headstone recognizes our daughter's namesake, Elliott Smith. He was a great songwriter and poet, and we still miss him greatly to this day. The kitten (our nickname for our daughter) watches over him. Dia de los Muertos is as much about celebrating life and death as it is remembering those who are no longer among the living.
there has been recent interest in my elliott smith shots, prompting me to find some old stuff on my hard drive. from his XO tour, with quasi as backing band.
Elliott Smith - a true indie icon. This was the first doll I knitted and I stuck to the knitted Icons basic doll pattern. As I made more I altered the pattern to get a closer likeness to the person.

As a birthday gift, my friend Heather got me Autumn de Wilde's photography book on one of my favorite musicians, Elliott Smith. It's an awesome book and an awesome gift!
When I saw this contact sheet of stills from the "Son of Sam" video, I had to try taking a shot of Elliott "fading away". So sad :(
Going nowhere. *more below*
-Elliott Smith
his songs have been played a lot lately. They seem to put words to the state of my nephews mind. This week will also be the 9 year anniversary of Elliots death.
I guess I am feeling kind of melancholy and sad lately. Fall seems to have started and finished in a flash. The leaves have dropped without lingering on the branches, it went from sunny and dry one week to blustery and rainy the next. No fade into the next season the way it normally does. Just woke up one morning and the world was different.
xo
It was weird to see him on a big billboard even though he's been dead for over four years now... Probably the greatest singer-songwriter ever.

1969 / 2003 †.
Ballad Of Big Nothing
Throwing candy out to the crowd
Dragging down the main
The helpless little thing with the dirty mouth who's always gotsomething
To say you're sitting at home now waiting for your brother tocall
I saw him down at the alley
Having had enough of it all
Said you can do what you want to whenever you want to
You can do what you want to there's no one to stop you
All spit and spite you're up all night and down every day
A tired man with only hours to go just waiting to be taken away
Getting in to the back of a car for candy from some stranger
Watching the parade with pinpoint eyes full of smoldering anger
You can do what you want to whenever you want to
You can do what you want to there's no one to stop you
Now you can do what you want to whenever you want to
Do what you want to whenever you want to
Do what you want to whenever you want to though it doesn't mean athing
Big nothing

Pretty (ugly Before)
Sunshine, been keeping me up for days
There is no night time, it's only a passing phase
And I feel pretty, pretty enough for you
I felt so ugly before, I didn't know what to do
Sometimes is all I feel up to now
But it's not worth it to you
Cos you gotta get out somehow
It's the destruction that you require to feel
Like somebody wants you, someone that's more for real
Sunshine, been keeping me up for days
There is no night time, only a passing phase
And I'll feel pretty, another hour or two
I felt so ugly before, I didn't know what to do
I felt so ugly before, I didn't know what to do
I felt so ugly before, I didn't know what to do
Ugly before

Between the Bars, de Elliott Smith.
Animal Beard pressed only 4,500 copies of this very limited EP, making them available only to fan club members and through a charity supporting Powell's Books in Portland. Each copy was autographed by each member of the band and included a special sketch by singer/songwriter Chris Ryan inspired by the Iraq War.
