Chateau Yaldara in the famous winemaking Barossa Valley, north of Adelaide, South Australia is one of the bigger and more elaborate wineries in a region of many, many wineries.

We will come back to some shots of the area later so I will leave the history and information about the region and this winery until another day. This one is just for Window Wednesday.

We found this elaborate sand castle during our visit to Coronado Island. This was built on the beach outside the Hotel Del Coronado. It appeared to be for someone's birthday on April 7. It was already built very early in the morning but had been left alone. No one was guarding or watching it. Was it a happy surprise? Maybe no one was watching it because it was raining.

A mysterious and amazing castle.

A spirit house is a shrine to the protective spirit of a place that is found in the Southeast Asian countries of Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. They are normally in the form of small roofed structure mounted on a pillar or a dais, and can range in size from small platforms to houses large enough for people to enter. Spirit houses are intended to provide a shelter for spirits that could cause problems for the people if not appeased. They often include images or carved statues of people and animals. Votive offerings are left at them to propitiate the spirits; more elaborate installations include an altar for this purpose. Wikipedia

LE 17'' Wedding Rapunzel has been freed of all the ties holding her to the diorama. She is still tied to the plastic spacer, and is on the doll stand, next to the now empty diorama.

The Disney Store's Limited Edition 17'' Tangled Ever After Rapunzel Wedding Doll was available for pre-order online and instore on February 21, 2012. This doll was pre-ordered instore on February 21, and was picked up at my local Disney Store on March 28, 2012. She is #1081 out of an edition of 8000.

She is a 17'' doll with an elaborate wedding gown and veil, and a jeweled crown. The gown has an ivory satin bodice with gold sun and floral embroidery, and white lace and gold trim. The skirt is silver satin with an ivory printed sun and floral pattern and gold trim, and bedecked with faux pearls. There is a full underskirt of purple satin with a gold printed sun and floral pattern, with white lace on the bottom. The veil is oversized and is two layered white tulle, with a softer, thinner layer underneath a stiffer coarser layer with a magnificient solar and floral glittering gold pattern.

She is a fully articulated doll, including poseable hands. She has a painted gold ring on the ring finger of her left hand. Her head mold and face painting are the same as the previous blonde haired LE 17'' Rapunzel from the Disney Store. However, her hair is short and brown, as she wore for her wedding in Tangled Ever After, and not long and blonde as she was until near the end of the first Tangled movie. Her eyelashes are rooted, but come in two lengths. This doll has the shorter length, straight eyelashes, that are similar to those depicted in the promo images. Other dolls in this same release have very long curvy lashes that are similar, but not quite as long, as the blonde long haired 17'' LE Rapunzel.

As with the other Disney Store 17'' Limited Edition dolls, Wedding Rapunzel comes in a beautiful and sturdy plastic and cardboard box within a box.

Once I fully debox her, I will find what other features the doll has, that are hidden by the way she is posed in the box.

These ferns grow in the cool, shady places in the woods on our farm. It's wonderful to stumble upon them and breathe in the earthy dampness of the soil. And so lovely to see the unfurled green fronds dappled with random sunlight......

These are photos taken on my trip to Europe and the UK with a girl friend in October to November 2012. My camera I had then wasn't good with low light so some of these shots are not great but I have put them as my memories of the trip.

We have most of the day to fill in walking around Bruges before we catch the train to Amsterdam.

Bruges, the capital of West Flanders in northwest Belgium, is distinguished by its canals, cobbled streets and medieval buildings. Its port, Zeebrugge, is an important center for fishing and European trade. In the city center’s Burg square, the 14th-century Stadhuis (City Hall) has an ornate carved ceiling. Nearby, Markt square features a 13th-century belfry with a 47-bell carillon and 83m tower with panoramic views. ― Google

The Sanctuary of Truth is a magnificent temple in Pattaya, Thailand, that stands as a tribute to traditional Thai architecture and craftsmanship. The temple is entirely made of wood, with intricate carvings depicting various Hindu and Buddhist deities, as well as ancient Thai mythological figures. The construction of the Sanctuary of Truth began in 1981 and is still ongoing. The temple covers an area of over two hectares and is over 100 meters tall. It was designed by a local businessman named Lek Viriyaphant. The Sanctuary of Truth is not affiliated with any specific religion, but rather serves as a symbol of the unity of all religions and beliefs. It is a peaceful and tranquil place where visitors can reflect and appreciate the beauty of Thai culture and tradition. The Sanctuary of Truth also serves as a cultural and educational center. It hosts various workshops and events throughout the year, aimed at promoting traditional Thai arts and crafts.

The Sanctuary of Truth is located in Pattaya. On each of the four roofs of the shrine you can see beautiful carvings of women. The first statue that catches your eye is the giant four-faced Brahma. The Hindu deity is there to symbolize "your ruler's morals." It doesn't matter if it is your parents, teachers or the king, they must follow the four universal virtues: benevolence, compassion, empathetic joy and equanimity. Among the four Buddhist virtues called Brahmaviharas, one finds a sculpture of the three-headed elephant beautifully carved from teak. It is one of the many impressive works of art on display in the Sanctuary of Truth also known as "Airavata". Elephants in all forms are worshiped and revered in Thailand. Erawan is the sacred elephant in Thailand. In Hindu mythology, the elephant often symbolizes strength, wisdom and abundance. Atop Erawan, Brahma sits in various poses, an artistic interpretation of the meaning of Brahma Vasya in Hindu mythology. Also, Erawan seems to save Brahma by carrying her in the trunk. This is a symbol of protection, prosperity and abundance. You may be amazed at the amount of work it must have taken to make these engravings.

Wall of Megiddo.

Megiddo: an important city in antiquity in the Plain of Esdraelon located in northwestern Palestine. Megiddo (me-gid«doh) is identified with modern Tell el-Mutesellim about twenty miles southeast of Haifa and ten miles northwest of Jenin.

Megiddo is mentioned in a number of Egyptian and Assyrian texts as well as in the Bible. The earliest reference is in the fifteenth-century b.c. annals of Thutmose III on the walls of the Temple of Karnak in Upper Egypt. Megiddo’s defeat is described in detail, elaborating the battle plan, the booty of prisoners, chariots, and household goods, and the tribute of gold, silver, grain, and wine. The Barkal Stele erected at the Fourth Cataract of the Nile further describes this campaign.

The elaborately decorative bark, with its shading of color and its suicidal-looking peeling, make this my favorite species of tree. HTmT!

We've gotten to that time of year when we are tired of bare limbs, and we wait, and wait, for green buds to appear, expand, and take over all the deciduous trees, filling in our view.

An elaborate staircase dominates the center of Drottningholm palace near the ticket office. Large statues of the nine muses are placed on the balustrade of the staircase, which was designed by Tessin the Elder (6 of them are visible here). The walls of the stair hall are decorated with trompe-l'oeil paintings by Johan Sylvius and the ceiling features a large painting by David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl (aviewoncities.com).

Set in the picturesque village of Falkland, this palace was the favourite retreat of the Stuart dynasty, especially Mary Queen of Scots who visited for the hunting, hawking and tennis.

The Palace is now in the care of the charity the National Trust For Scotland.

The Royal Palace of Falkland was used as a country residence by Stuart kings and queens who used to hunt deer and wild boar in the nearby Fife forests. Mary Queen of Scots spent some of the happiest days of her tragic life here, hunting and hawking around the woods and park, which is still beautifully maintained today.

The palace was built between 1501 and 1541 by James IV and James V, replacing earlier castle from the 12th century, traces of which can still be seen in the grounds.

The Palace fell into ruin from the late 17th to early 18th centuries after it fell into disuse and was badly burnt by Cromwellian troops. In the early 19th century it was restored by the 3rd Marquess of Bute and his descendants still live in the Palace today after giving the National Trust for Scotland the role of Deputy Keeper in the 1950s.The original and reconstructed rooms are packed with fine portraits of the Stuart monarchs, 17th-century Flemish tapestries, elaborate painted ceilings and antique furnishings.

The Palace was restored by the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the early 1900s. The roofed South Range contains the stunning Chapel Royal which is still a practicing Roman Catholic Chapel (one of the only surviving in a Palace owned by the Crown), Drawing Room, Tapestry Gallery and Edwardian Library. The ruined East Range was where the Royal Apartments would have been and the Cross House displays reconstructed King and Queen’s Rooms. The upper floors of the Gatehouse display the Keeper’s Apartments who would have maintained the Palace on behalf of the sovereign.

The Palace sits in nine acres of maintained grounds and formal gardens. The Pleasure Garden was designed and built by Percy Cane between 1947 and 1952 and contains three herbaceous borders enclosing a wide lawn with many varieties of shrubs and trees. The ancient Orchard contains various fruit trees, some as old as 150 years, as well as willow sculptures and a Labyrinth. The Wildflower Meadow carpets the Orchard and is a home for rare plants, insects and wildlife. A newly planted Physic Garden contains medicinal herbs which would have been grown at the time of Mary Queen of Scots. Falkland Palace is also home to the oldest Real or Royal Tennis Court in Britain, originally built for King James V in 1539 and played on by Mary Queen of Scots herself. [Visit Scotland ]

St. Mary's Basilica

Bazylika Mariacka

St. Mary's Church, or formally the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Brick Gothic Roman Catholic church located in central Gdańsk, Poland. With its volume between 185,000 m³ and 190,000 m³ it is currently one of the two or three largest brick churches in the world. Wikipedia

Rynek Główny

The main square (Rynek Główny) of the Old Town of Kraków, Lesser Poland, is the principal urban space located at the center of the city. It dates back to the 13th century, and at 3.79 ha (9.4 acres) is the largest medieval town square in Europe. The Project for Public Spaces (PPS) lists the square as the best public space in Europe due to its lively street life, and it was a major factor in the inclusion of Kraków as one of the top off-the-beaten-path destinations in the world in 2016.

The main square is a square space surrounded by historic townhouses (kamienice) and churches. The center of the square is dominated by the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), rebuilt in 1555 in the Renaissance style, topped by a beautiful attic or Polish parapet decorated with carved masks. On one side of the cloth hall is the Town Hall Tower (Wieża ratuszowa), on the other the 11th century Church of St. Adalbert and 1898 Adam Mickiewicz Monument. Rising above the square are the Gothic towers of St. Mary's Basilica (Kościół Mariacki).

The Jeronimos Monastery is the most impressive symbol of Portugal's power and wealth during the Age of Discovery. King Manuel I built it in 1502 on the site of a hermitage founded by Prince Henry the Navigator, where Vasco da Gama and his crew spent their last night in Portugal in prayer before leaving for India. It was built to commemorate Vasco Da Gama's voyage and to give thanks to the Virgin Mary for its success.

Vasco da Gama's tomb was placed inside by the entrance, as was the tomb of poet Luis de Camões, author of the epic The Lusiads in which he glorifies the triumphs of Da Gama and his compatriots. Other great figures in Portuguese history are also entombed here, like King Manuel and King Sebastião, and poets Fernando Pessoa and Alexandre Herculano.

The monastery was populated by monks of the Order of Saint Jerome (Hieronymites), whose spiritual job was to give guidance to sailors and pray for the king's soul. It's one of the great triumphs of European Gothic (UNESCO has classified it a World Heritage monument), with much of the design characterized by elaborate sculptural details and maritime motifs. This style of architecture became known as "Manueline," a style that served to glorify the great "discoveries" of the age.

This elaborate marble staircase and columns are in the state capitol building in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Built between 1896 and 1905; design by the prominent American architect, Cass Gilbert. Gilbert also designed the Woolworth building in NYC, the U.S. Supreme Court building in DC and the Saint Louis Art Museum.

Meadowport Arch with built- in benches.Meadowport Arch is one of six arches at Prospect Park.It was designed by Prospect Park architects Frederic Law Olmsted and Calvin Vaux between 1868-1870.The arch was built on swampy land (once filled with peat bog),so to prevent it from sinking and shifting.Vaux floated the arch on a caisson (watertight chamber used in underwater construction) placed underneath the structure. The arch is made of sandstone, the benches you see are made from Ohio cement, and the vaulted ceiling in the tunnel is made entirely of cedar planks (which can be seen well here).By placing the tunnel at a 45-degree to the roadway above,Vaux was able to create a dual archway (seen in a different photo share below) on its eastern end facing a long meadow that once had sheep on it.Caught in a rainstorm, the arches are the perfect places to run to for shelter. That was one of the purposes they served.
