Depois de uma longa noite viajando, um belo nascer do sol sobre a Estrada de Ferro Carajás ilumina o céu, dando início a mais um dia quente no norte do Brasil.

 

After a long night riding on the rails, a nice sunrise over Carajás Railroad illuminates the sky, beguining another hot day in the northern Brazil.

Com apenas mais alguns minutos de luz do dia, V-63 finalmente concluiu a instalação de lastro entre os quilômetros 158 e 159. Em seguida, o trem seguiu para o Pátio Santa Inês para pernoitar.

 

With only few more minutes of daylight, V-63 finally finished to lay down ballast between Km's 158/159. After this, the train headed to Santa Inês Yard to spend the night.

EFCS Van Allen originally was build as colonial ship, late modification of Patriarch class. She was almost ready when huge colonization programm had been canceled due to deep political crysis. For several decades this ship was drifting in orbit without any purpose. Van Allen was partially disassembled, most valuable modules as reactor or hypercore were removed. Finaly, her empty shell was sold out as scrap. However new owner from one of peripheral colonies decided to rebuild Van Allen as construction ship. Due to lack of finances old equipment was used. Artificial gravity ring was replaced by radiation sheild to protect crew from old unsafe reactor and engine. Most secondary systems also were outdated or missed. Despite this Van Allen is still valuable costruction ship capable of assembling key sctructural parts of space stations or supermassive ships. About one third of outer rim's trade hubs were build with help of this ship.

Essa bela veterana da EFC, aguarda serviço em uma manhã bastante agradável no pátio de Imperatriz. Todas as SD40-2 foram vendidas a VLI em torno de 2015 para rodarem na FNS, tracionando pequenos trens de manutenção ao longo de toda FNS.

A 428 foi a penúltima SD40-2 fabricada no mundo em junho de 1987 pela Villares em Araraquara, SP, Brasil.

 

This beautiful EFC's veteran awaits service on a very pleasant morning in the Imperatriz Yard. All SD40-2s were sold to VLI around 2015 to run on the FNS, pulling small maintenance trains along the entire railroad.

 

428 was the penultimate SD40-2 manufactured in the world in June 1987 by Villares in Araraquara, SP, Brazil.

Encontro de gigantes no km16 da Estrada de Ferro Carajás, minério carregado chegando ao porto de Itaqui enquanto um vazio deixa o porto rumo à mais um carregamento.

 

The behemoth meeting at Carajás Railway, a loaded iron ore train arriving into the port while an empty one leaves towards an one more load.

Poderia ser uma bela corrida se o trem não estivesse parado aguardando término de uma manutenção de via.

 

It could be a nice race if the train wasn't stop, waiting for the finish of a railroad repair works ahead.
