This vintage Catapiller sits on display at the Guy Goodwin Education Center in Carrizo Plain national Monument, San Luis Obispo County, California. Cattle were brought to the grasslands of the Carrizo Plain by the early 1850s. The next big change came when dryland grain farmers started homesteading in the valley. Eventually vast amounts of the grassland was put to the plow. The farm work was orignally all done with horse drawn euipment but eventually tractors like this one did the heavy work. The Carrizo Plain gets only 8 to 10 inches of rainfall a year on average but the amount during any given year can be highly unpredictable. The risk of crop failure due to insufficient moisture became to great and most of the farming efforts were abandoned. In the last few decades many of the homesteads were bought and became part of the National Monument which is administered by the BLM.
Well the time has come......which tbh I didn't really think was going to happen and at the last minute by some miracle all would work out.....
(bad habit me thinking like that its beginning to appear 🙈).....There would be space at the ideal local SEN provision for 'H'
In one way I've saved myself a summer of worry thinking it would all work out in the end......
Other hand - BAM I'm now a Yr 7 teacher.......
So for teacher's perks (and yes we are following the curriculum and have a classroom set up - even a list of our school policies 😁) I declare photography on the time table.....
And I'm pleased to say the lesson has contributed immensely to 'H's photography skills......
As demonstrated by him Sunday morning when we went to watch the 'swan song' for the Class 507's at Hooton Station ......
He skidded onto the platform floor like a footballer with his celebration knee slide that even Mbappé would have been proud of .....don't quite know what the other photographer's thought.....but there again he's just like his Mom 😁

Meeko is a ten-year-old raccoon from Ohio. She and her sister were orphaned as kits. They were rescued and became residents of the Cincinnati Zoo. There, they did shows together until Meeko's sister passed away. Meeko then came to the Lehigh Valley Zoo, here in Pennsylvania, where she's an education animal. She loves people and enjoys programs in which she can meet humans.

These classes are designed for those who wish to become an Affiliate, are new to being an Affiliate or desire more education on being an Affiliate.
Classes are offered twice a week beginning the week of June 5, 2023. (see below for schedule).
Classes are 1 hour in length and will have time for some questions and answers.
Classes are held on the Zooby Discord server in the Education Voice Channel under Community. The instructor will be on voice and screen sharing. You need to be able to hear and watch the screen share to benefit most from the class
Class sessions are provided à la carte. You can select and choose which individual session suits your needs
Cost: $5.00 (paid via PayPal) or 900L (paid in-world at the vendor), per person, per class.

i am a long time student ( i do it for fun ) and a volunteer teacher at our University ( photography ) .

I haven't been taking many photos lately, so here's a shot I never got around to posting. Laura is one of the education staff at the Elmwood Park Zoo, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Stella is a great horned owl who has partnered with Laura for several years.
*Working Towards a Better World
This is a mixed media work done with copper & gold leaf, music papers, students' lesson papers, notes, and acrylic paints.
Sometimes it seems as if the arts are not considered part of education. Music is an art form that must be learned and is appreciated the world over and has been since the beginning of time. We must not forget its importance and make sure that our children are fully exposed to the different types of music available. Children love to learn to play instruments, to sing, and to compose, all of which are of utmost importance and should be encouraged. Music takes a lifetime of learning and perfecting and is appreciated by so many the world over. To me, music should be part of the regular curriculum.

I am not certain that as a Primary Educations Studies student I should really be advocating procrastination over education, but if there were to be a degree in procrastination, I would get a first. But, my procrastination books are very educational (okay, perhaps not The Meaning of Liff, but the other two definitely are).
The Book of the Year was the book I went to the event for the other night and I have decided that, in order not to detract too much from my studies, I will read a letter a night, so tonight I read C and tomorrow I will read D. If you do not know what it is, it is a book of all the interesting, bizarre or funny news stories of the year that either never made it into the headlines or were brushed over so quickly that they never got the attention they deserved. So, there is a section for Aardvarks (a man in Poland performed CPR on an Aardvark) and a section on Citizenship (Australia are having problems with dual nationality). There are also conversations between the four QI Elves that wrote the book, which are both informative and amusing.
