edm #179 an onion - today I bougnt an onion to make turkey orzo soup. I decided to draw it before it went into the pot. My husband called me outside to help paint a Kokopelli on the barn and I almost didn't get back inside in time to get my sketch done! I used Derwent Inktense pencils and W-N watercolors in my wc sketchbook (Strathmore).
Update: Kokopelli is a trickster god of the Native Americans of the Southwest and is usually depicted with a humpback, wild hair, and a flute. He is the god of agriculture, children, fertility, and music.
Truth in advertising: O.K. I admit, I drew the onion while everything else was already in the pot and then I cut a very large chunk off of the onion for the soup while keeping one side in tact so that I could see the colors for painting! By the way, the soup was delicious! Patty
My favorites...none broken in 40 years....came from Kmart, made in China or Japan or Korea....but made beautifully and well. I love them best of all of my dishes!

An apron, or something you wear as cover during messy activities.
Although there are a few aprons hanging on the easel in a corner of my studio, I was inspired by my husband's garden gloves. He needed to run back to the store for more gardening supplies, so I pulled up the garbage can as my temporary easel and sketched this. Just as I found it. It's a messy activity.
EDM 7 A gadget used for cleaning. Wonder if they really work? All my cleaning gear is boring and not much fun so Mr. Google found this fun image for me. Watercolour, brush pen on Canson Montval paper.
Here is my bowl. (This is my very favorite Flo Greig pottery. I have a zillion pieces .. and I'm not done yet.)

One of my goals is to work larger than my usual 1/4 sheet, so this is closer to a half sheet. The challenges were the Mexican Talavera pattern foreshortened on the near edge of the bowl, and the texture of the lemons. I can't decide if I should put the wood grain of the table in or not, since it's not the part I'm especially interested in.
