Everest Base Camp. Hardest thing I’ve ever done.

We were close to our goal, the summit of Kalapathar, at 18,500 ft altitude.

This photo has been taken during our Gokyo Lakes + Everest Base Camp trek. Building on the photo are part of a Buddhist monastery in Pangboche village, which is located at ~3,985m in Solukhumbu District, Nepal.

Final beams of light on the summit of Ama Dablam (6856 metres), one of the most beautiful mountains in Sagarmatha national park.

Nepal is a very beautiful country and it is really sad to see what had happened to its cities and its people after the earthquake. I hope they will be able to recover from that disaster soon and that there won't be any other earthquakes in the nearest future.

Some incredible landscapes from our trip to Everest Base Camp a couple of years ago.

The route to Gokyo lakes, then to Everest Base Camp and back is probably one of the most stunning high-mountain tracks in the world. Every day you see some incredible landscapes, truly amazing!

An iconic peak in Nepal part of Himalayas.

In my 1st trek to the Everest Base Camp in May 2019, it was just touch the EBC and return back to Gorakshep, cause that's what everyone did. This second time in March '23, I stayed a night at the EBC. It was early in the season and the mountaineers and their support staff were expected the next week. Hence I got lucky in getting a tent, thanks to my guide @professionalsherpaguide Ngima Sherpa and @sip_b_tamang. The tent was a long long hike away from the EBC celebratory rock and was bang opposite the spectacular Khumbhu icefall. I was extremely tired and had lost my appetite for the insipid Dal Bhaat and hence retired early with a 3 am alarm. I woke up much before the alarm chimed, on hearing a truck rumble outside my tent. I walked out with bleary eyes wondering how the heck would a truck come here, only to see an avalanche thundering down from the giant Nuptse mountain. The -20 degrees Celsius had already frozen my digits even before I quickly set up my equally frigid tripod. I have photographed the Milky Way in quite a few beautiful locations but this place took the cake as one of the most awesome, that I have witnessed.

I'll definitely be camping here a few more times in the near future, any friends would care to join?

Most heavy loads in Himalaya are carried on yaks and their close relatives dzo (hybrid of yak and domestic cattle). When you meet these animals on the trail it's better to step aside (on a higher part of the trail) and wait until they will pass as they can easily penetrate people with their horns.

Thousands of pictures has been captured here. A very beautiful spot for landscape photographers. On the way to Everest view hotel from Namche Bazar we get this view. The weather was hazy, but if sky is clear this could be the best spot of the whole ebc trek.

A prominent feature most of the way up to Everest Base Camp, Thamserku towers over the valleys as you leave Namche Bazzar for the onward journey.

Above the village of Thukla, after a strenuous climb, there are a number of stone cairns and stupas dedicated to climbers who have died on Everest and the surrounding mountains. Cholatse (6440m) looked down on us through the clouds as we rested and explored the memorial.

Thamserku mountain can be seen nearly from every point around Namche Bazaar (Nepal). It can be easily recognised by the shape of its summit.

He relaxed there posing for me. Sometimes he got bored and starting to sleep so I had to make some noise to wake him up.
