Joe's Crab Shack - Nashville, Tennessee

A photograph currently on the photostream of "eat at joe's" gives the impression that the gentleman therein portrayed lacked a crown on one of his teeth that was to be replaced this Friday by that nice Mr Marshall. This is completely false of course and the gentleman portrayed (I didn't say that it was me) has a complete set of teeth as can be seen on this picture.
Someone must have done some Photoshopping on the original in order to give the impression of a gap.
The gentleman in the picture is partaking of an Imperial Pint of beer (known in the North of England as a "cissy pint" or "a starter.")
A second or two after the picture was taken he would have consumed a "Northern Pint" (five gallons) seen on the left of the picture.

The Dom DiMaggio Building, a two-story building, was home to Joe DiMaggio's Grotto, an Italian restaurant opened by Joe DiMaggio in the 1930's. Today, the building hosts souvenir shops on the first floor, and Joe's Crab Shack on the second.
Always a popular place with locals and tourist alike at Fisherman's Wharf is Joe's Crab Shack. Located on Jefferson between Piers 45 and 47 and it is open until 11PM Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday for all of your late night cravings.

Volunteers Anna and Rudy wore their dark sunglasses and we think they made a good NYC rendition of The Blues Bros, SJSK-style.

St. Joseph's parishioner and longtime SJSK volunteer (13 years), Carmen, displays today's lunch tray served to guests.
A light and tasty Tuna Pasta casserole, prepared by David Larkin and crew, was served along with a medley of canned veggies donated by Food Bank NYC. Coffee, lemonade and freshly baked Hummingbird Cake was also served. .
Carmen became involved at soup kitchen via St. Joe's parish. She served as one of the volunteer cooks for about 8-9 years, cooking many of the chicken holiday meals. She rallied volunteers into making special spinach lasagna for holiday meals during the years when SJSK did not have convection ovens.
She has transitioned from cooking to handling SJSK's digital presence. Yup, today, she's gotten a chance to experience what she puts other volunteers through every week: the spotlight. Yikes!
Carmen is also a part of the baking team and has been instrumental in coordinating SJSK's foray into volunteer-based fundraising.
What's Carmen's favorite part of volunteering at SJSK? Seeing God's work being carried out by volunteers at St. Joe's, by believers and non-believers alike, who come from all over the world to do this. She's constantly learning about kindness and compassion from volunteer service, especially from SJSK's guests, who praise and beam with delight and gratitude at the yummy food they Eat at Joe's (Carmen's had the honor of hearing it firsthand from guests and volunteers on many occasions).
No. 40 in 112 pictures in 2012 is starts with a "T" so here's a Vintage Taxi (or to give its full description "Taximeter Cabriolet" seen in Vancouver downtown. HDR, selective colour
The reason I'm posting this in my California Dreamin' set is; it's probably one of the only successful night shots I've ever taken lol ;) This particular SONY of mine is great at some things and not so great at others..Can't a camera be great at every type of photo?
I took this while we were walking around Fisherman's Wharf one night in San Francisco, California.

Whoa! 5 gargantuan pots of chili (ground beef, turkey, and vegetarian) were prepared for guests at SJSK.
Chunky meat, fragrant beans, and the right blend of spices made a knockout meal, that's for sure.

LeeAnn, drew the menu sign after she helped plate slices of cake. Great job LeeAnn!
I quit smoking four years ago and I really don't care to smell it now but this speaks to a larger issue. This is my favorite Joe's Diner mug. By imperial decree of the Obama Administration, it will now be illegal for Camel to offer these sorts of inducements to smoking. (Yeah, like that's what got me started, right??!)
Banned in America Land of the Free:
"...tobacco companies are no longer allowed to sponsor cultural and sporting events, distribute logo clothing, give away free samples or sell cigarettes in packages of less than 20 -- so called "kiddy packs." Use of the term "Light" on the packaging is also forbidden. 50% of the package must be covered with health warnings (a-la Canadian cigs.), and it is probably wrong to mention "terrorism" on there, but you can say "human caused disaster."

—SJSK chef of 31 years, David Larkin, displays the lunch tray of his own cooking today. On the menu: Chicken Pasta Primavera, salad, and freshly-baked blueberry, blackberry, and peach pie with a dollop of whipped cream.
—Vegetarian option of the main entree was also served to guests, upon request.
—Can we count the ways in which we love our chef David Larkin? Infinity!

They both came in on Friday night to prep and bake the cakes. Big thanks to Mogan who also swung by to help!
Ian Stirland (of "Eat at Joe's" fame) that Master of the Fly Market and Skip Recovery posted a picture from the 1940's and I colorised it. He has very kindly allowed me to post it on my own photostream. Thank you Ian.
