A narrow road skirts the head of Loch Lochy before veering left through the quaintly named Mile Dorcha or Dark Mile, at the end of which you reach the Chiag-aig Falls. The falls feature a double level in which water from Abhainn Chia-aig falls into a deep, dark pool known as the 'Witch’s Cauldron'. According to legend, Cameron clansmen chased a witch, who had placed a curse on their cattle, over the falls to her death. It was here that Liam Neeson leapt over the bridge to avoid being captured by the English in the movie Rob Roy!

Eas Urchaidh, a cauldron of falls on the River Orchy, Glen Orchy. Another look back some shots from my trip back in 2010.

The spectacular view of Eas Mor waterfall which is nestled at the foot of the Cuillin Mountains on the Isle of Skye.

On the descent I got caught up in high winds and a hail storm.

Islay, Scotland

The falls are located between Loch Lochy and Loch Arkaig, near Achnacarry and Clunes.

The waterfall at the end of the road to nowhere

I managed to get close to this wonderful waterfall swollen by heavy rains. Despite the difficulties I wanted to give it a chance and it was actually worth it.

Another from my scramble in to the bottom of Eas Mor. Square cropped to emphasise the wee fall in the foreground, with a hint of the full falls in the background.

And the "normal" view of Eas Mor. A stonking wee blast of low sun caught the falls and the rise above the falls, but left Sgurr na Banachdich looming as a dark presence. Taken with the wee 100D, a fantastic wee camera, and half the weight of the 7D. (and yes we did get a soaking on the way back down...)

Waterfall, Isle of Mull

Another well photographed road side location on Scotland's Isle of Skye.

Translated from the Gaelic it may mean Salmon Falls however I can't see any salmon making it up these falls today!

Tiny but deep waterfall in a forest on Isle of Arran in Scotland. Just around the corner from it, still in the forest, is a library. Strange location perhaps? Well yeah but it's one to remember.

I spotted these falls on a map some time ago, and ran a highlighter pen over them. I then forgot about them for some time until I saw a hillwalking photo one of my mates at work took and I realised it was the spot I saw on the map.

I became very enthusiastic very quickly, and during my last leave period I headed up to Skye and straight to Glen Brittle.

I found my spot, and sat for about 2 hours until the conditions were right. They were good for hillwalking, but the sun came out frequently and made a massive dynamic range between the glen and the hills. I waited for one of the overcast spells between shots and got wired in.

The only thing I would change would be to have more leaves on the tree, but I'm pretty chuffed with this.

(I had another shot I processed prior to this which I have removed, this one feels better to me)

A beautiful little waterfall in the amazing Glencoe (Gleann Comhann) visited along the West Highland Way between Bridge of Orchy (Drochaid Urchaidh) and Kingshouse.

Passing the EAS at Grandville, as well as milepost 6, Q326 swings onto Main #1. C&O searchlights, code line, and plenty of Spartan Cab EMD leaders are still the name of the game on the Grand Rapids Sub on this October 2008 morning.

A hidden gem on the Isle of Skye, a bit off the most well trodden paths. We only had limited time here; I caught this bit of a spotlight on the falls right before packing up. Definitely a location to come back to and wait for the light.

During our scenic evening drive around the Isle of Mull. I spotted this impressive looking waterfall. So got my wife to pull over briefly while I got a shot of it. When I got back in the car, she'd found out the name of it for me.

A location in the film Rob Roy, this double fall, with others further upstream, is easily viewed from the main road on the approach to Loch Arkaig. The final drop is into the Witches Pool.
