These buildings are unique in Germany. It was built in the period from 1734 to 1742 for Dutch craftsmen who were invited to come to Potsdam by King Frederick Wilhelm I. It covers an area of four city blocks with about 150 houses and other buildings built of red bricks in the Dutch style: unplastered with white seams and sweeping gables.

Dutch Elm Disease (DED) took out 3 elm trees in our yard this summer. We hired our neighbor down the road who does tree work to remove them all. These two were the worst loss, as they provided wonderful shade in the evening on the west side of our house over the deck. What a bummer.

It seemed there were many tourists from the Netherlands in Rye when we were there. Rob and I have both English and Dutch heritage so we were attracted and intrigued by this minor connection. I liked this Mom's haircut and this toddler was so cute that again I tried to sneak a photo which then came out dark & blurry but after photoshop to me looks like a Dutch painting and I may try to turn it into my own painting soon.

After seeing leuwam's photo of a Dutch Baby I knew I had to make one. So this morning I made myself one for breakfast. It was quite interesting. At first I was only eating it with syrup and it tasted pretty eggy, and I am not a fan of eggs. Once I added the raspberries though it was actually pretty nice. I'll have to experiment with it some, but it was definitely fun to eat! :)

Holland Park is about 22 hectares (54 acres) in area [1] and is considered one of the most romantic and peaceful parks of West London. The northern half or so of the park is semi-wild woodland, the central section around the ruins of Holland House is more formal with several garden areas, and the southernmost section is used for sport. Holland House is now a fragmentary ruin, having been devastated by incendiary bombing in 1940, but the ruins and the grounds were bought by London County Council in 1952 from the last private owner, the 6th Earl of Ilchester.[2] The park contains a famous Orangery, a giant chess set, a cricket pitch, tennis courts, a Japanese garden, a youth hostel, one of London's best equipped children's playgrounds, squirrels and (impressively for a London park) peacocks.
