These are the windows of the town hall in Alphen a/d Rijn, the Netherlands. As a contact of mine justly noted, the idea of making government more transparent is prevalent in Holland, as in many other countries, and such modern designs are supposed to express that idea. This cloudy glass demonstrates just how transparent they have managed to make government. Bureaucracy clouds most of the best intentions politicians have.

Holland 1 was the Royal Navy's first submarine. It was lost when being towed off the Eddystone in 1913 on it's way to being scrapped. It lay beneath the sea until being found and lifted in 1982 after 69 years beneath the water !! It spent many years being 'restored' with chemicals through the 1980's but in the 1990s it was done properly to remove all of the chlorides that were absorbed into the structure, a job that took 4 or 5 year...
Through Lottery Funding it was rehouse in the new temperature controlled gallery and access inside is now possible.
Last Sunday spent again the entire day in the fantastic hide built by pro photographer Han Bouwmeester.
Light was very difficult and had to use most of the times very high ISO values to get acceptable shutter speeds. Many thanks to the fabulous D7000 to allow me to get some nice photos.

Hollands Kaasmuseum. Originally built in 1390 as a chapel for the Holy Ghost, it was converted in 1576 to a weight house for cheese. It is now the Dutch Cheese Museum.
