Frontcover of the historic crime novel "Strömkarlen" by Limme & Palmqvist. Published by Kabusa Böcker (www.kabusabocker.se). Hardcover edition. Book numer two in the historic mystery series about reverend Simon Eldfeldt.

Made for my mom as a Christmas present...shhhh. I designed it myself, custom-fitted, sewing the interior out of a soft & sturdy matching fabric so as not to damage or stretch the Bible's binding and cover. No handles or zipper, I wanted it be a pretty dustjacket, not a bulky carying case -- this is for her Bible by the bedside/in the sitting room; she has a travel Bible for going out. (Oct. 2008)

dustjacket of 1978 Kodansha 1st edition

Top one is in poor shape as the store pasted it on to the dustjacket rather than the cover proper. The store is one of the premier places in Kanda; nice history of the store on their website. The book is a reference work published in 1954 and bought probably shortly after by one of my predecessors. The lower on is another of mine from the Hokkaidô trip in 2006; Nanyôdô is one of the specialist places near the university; their focus is entomology (second floor is dedicated to it), but they have other stuff too on the ground floor.

Catharina van der Linden, de vogelboot. Arnhem, Van Loghum Slaterus, 1956. Ingenaaid met omslag. 1e en enige druk.

I can find no information whatever on this author and, as the volume is undated, can only assume it was published c. 1930-35.

Having looked up the authors named on the back of the dust-jacket I can now report that all their novels named there were first published in 1948. The present volume probably being part of a cheap edition series published circa 1950 or so.

Further research seems to show 'Treasure on the Broads' was first published in 1933, though there is no evidence, at the moment, that the author ever produced any other work.

‘Treasure on the Broads’, Herbert Jenkins, undated, by W. Gerald Elliot.
