Duke Riley, Magnum Projects, Pulse. Materials are all new but made to suggest ancient. He used frosted plexi in the ovals to suggest scrimshaw. The mosaic above is floor tiling.
Duke came in for a health check. His owner was concerned about his inflamed muzzle. I We discovered he had a mild bout of folliculitis. Absolutely stunning looking dog.

The year 2008 marks the 40th anniversary of the Van Morrison classic, Astral Weeks. It's a landmark recording, a mixture of jazz and soul and Celtic lyricism. Tracks such as Cyprus Avenue, Madam George and Beside You are deeply rooted in Belfast life, just before the outbreak of the Troubles. The record is fascinating and inspiring on so many levels. It often features in the "all-time classic" lists of journalists and music fans.
With this in mind, a series of Irish performers will play the album in sequence. Music journalist and broadcaster Stuart Bailie will open the event with a talk about the record's inception and will introduce each track with notes about the lyrics and the musical context.
This was held in the Black Box at 2pm and again in the Oh Yeah Building at 8pm.
Duke Chapel is the most visible piece of Duke University's architectural beauty. Its tower soars 210 feet above West Campus, making this neo-Gothic building an awe-inspiring sight. The structure houses the Flentrop Organ (5,200 pipes), 50-bell carillon, and is adorned with stained-glass windows. Completed in 1932, the Chapel now houses a robust and welcoming church community with interdenominational services open to the public that are notable not only for the beauty of the building, but for the music integrated into each service and played on one of the three organs and sounded out by the carillon. Concerts, theological discussions, and more events are also regularly held in the Chapel, making it a centerpiece of the religious community at Duke, and in Durham as a whole.
