The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" the 24th of October is "in front of the fence", and here is my Merrythought Classic Paddington on a mission, off shopping with his shopping jeep, walking in front of my side fence, which as you may notice is quite overgrown with jasmine and wisteria vines, as I have a thick hedge of them running the entire length of my property. Once upon a time the fence supported the jasmine and wisteria - now I think it might be the other way around! I hope you like my choice for this week's theme, and that it makes you smile!

Kwatta chocolate:

Many duffle shops of Dutch soldiers featured a chocolate bar from the N.V. Stoom Cacao- en Chocoladefabriek Kwatta in Breda. The word 'Kwatta' refers to a Surinamese cocoa plantation. The word means 'a quarter' and symbolises that the recipe of a bar of Kwatta consists of a quarter of cocoa.

This beautiful Willow Pattern nursery tea set was made in England by the Shell China Company in the 1920s. It features four cups and saucers as well as a tea pot, coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl. Each piece is gilt edged and decorated with the Willow Pattern in blue, just like the life-size equivalent. It has two sister sets: a 1920s Shell China Company nursery rhyme tea set that I was given as a gift some years ago by a close friend who knows I collect nursery ware and children’s tea sets and a faerie tale set from the 1930s Shell China Company faerie tale tea set that I have built up from various sellers over time.

Aunt Lucy is the most important member of Paddington's original family. She raised him in Peru and taught him many of the principles he lives by: good manners, gratitude, kindness, and optimism. Paddington often quotes her advice, and in both the books and films he remains devoted to her. In later adaptations she lives at the Home for Retired Bears in Lima.

Beautifully handmade by Merrythought in England, Aunt Lucy combines the finest natural materials with four generations of the very best British teddy bear making expertise. Her kind expression and detailed design faithfully capture the gentle spirit of the much-loved film character, bringing comfort, happiness and a little Peruvian sunshine wherever she goes. Crafted from soft silver-tipped mahogany mohair plush and pure wool felt, Aunt Lucy wears a traditional Peruvian-style hat, complete with marmalade-coloured trim and a yellow hibiscus. Her classic gingerbread-coloured wool felt overcoat features pocket and button detailing, while her look is finished with signature gold-rimmed spectacles, a wooden beaded necklace, and a friendly hand-stitched smile.

We usually pack a small nylon duffle that is used to carry valuables, electronics, shaving/makeup kits as well as the next days clothing from the car to the accommodations leaving nothing of value other than clothes in our car. I generally even leave the car bags unzipped so that clothes can be seen and should anyone break in they can rifle through things easier without making a big mess or damaging the bags as only an honest man is stopped by a locked door.

Pictured here is the reason we don’t take all our gear everywhere we go, this little street maybe more a passageway is in Moliterno and a great example of why my style of travel off the beaten track uses your transport vehicle as a mobile storage locker. Steep hills, outdoor stair cases, long distance car parks, narrow inside stairs are just a few hurdles that you may have to traverse before getting to your room add a full load of camera gear and you quickly develop a minimalist packing strategy.

People have been living in the area since the Bronze Age but this was in a city that was called Grumentum, where Moliterno sits now was once just a watch tower built by the Lombard’s that served Grumentum to warn of danger. The Saracens fought the Lombard’s in the 10th century until the city Grumentum was destroyed, the survivors found refuge at the site of the watch tower and built houses around it beginning the city of Moliterno. When the Normans took over the area in the 11th century the watch tower was replaced with the fortress that still dominates the skyline, protects the town and nowadays attracts the tourists.

I took this on Sept 26, 2018 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 Lens at 35mm 1/15s f`11 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO

AUNT LUCY: "The last straw for me was when they tried to remove the basket from my paw, without even so much as a by your leave!"

MOVIE PADDINGTON: "Well that is a relief, Aunt Lucy! Please, do come inside. Daddy and everybear here, have been expecting you. Let me help you carry that basket of oranges!" *Grasps handle of basket.* "It looks heavy, and too heavy for you to carry on your own, Aunt Lucy!"

AUNT LUCY: "Thank you so much, Paddington darling! You are such a good bear. I'm proud of you!" *Smiles.*

Aunt Lucy is the most important member of Paddington's original family. She raised him in Peru and taught him many of the principles he lives by: good manners, gratitude, kindness, and optimism. Paddington often quotes her advice, and in both the books and films he remains devoted to her. In later adaptations she lives at the Home for Retired Bears in Lima.
