Announced in 1988, the Ducati SuperSport used a Pantah based 904 cc air-cooled 90° V-twin, two-valve "Desmodue" engine with crankcases derived from the 851 motor, mounted in a tubular trellis frame. From 1988 to 1991, the model was called a 900 SuperSport, and had a full fairing. The 1989 Supersport received a revised air/oil cooled motor from the 906cc Ducati Paso incorporating many changes to the Pantah motor, including a six-speed gear box. From 1989 to 1990 the motorcycle was fitted with a Marzocchi rear suspension, then first changed to Showa, and then to better quality Marzocchi damping in 1990.
This machine was offered at the British Motorcycle Museum, H and H sale 2nd March 2019 with an auction estimate of £ 4000-6000

Today, 1st of May, I rode the first, highly enjoyable miles on this little gem. It may not be 100% original, but I wanted it like this. I do not like the big original "DESMO" side covers and the chromium plated rear mudguard. I prefer the beautifully tapered, slightly (well, very slightly) silenced "Decibel"- megga from Paul Dunstall to the original, quite restrictive, but still rather noisy "tagliato a fetta"-silencer by Silentium
Cute number plate; DM for "Ducati Meccanica", 1970 is obvious. To protect the reconditionned engine, I use a K&N-filter and not the much sexier bellmouth on the SSI Dell'orto; seat still bears the period "Luxmoto" sticker: Rob Noorlander, a Dutch Ducati specialist, racer and enthusiast, ran this company in Bettendorf, Luxembourg.

The complete bike without it's HF03 engine; frame is modified Aprilia 250 GP, bodywork is Honda RS250. HF03 stands for third engine built by Helmuth Fath
This is the only Helmut Fath built 250cc 2-stroke bike in the world. I have acquired it and will try to rebuild it.
It starts first kick and ticks over like an old clock (well, almost), despite the racy camshaft and the old racing carb.
You can buy one of these; possibly the only replica built by the son of the builder of the original bike! These things are really fast..;

At Ducati they built this quite modern liquid cooled 3-cylinder dohc 4-valve engine to make an official return to GP racing; alas, it did not go beyond prototype stage

Bergamo artist and factory boss Donnino Rumi sculpted this little marvel; all the body parts (except footboards, wheels and leading link covers) are cast aluminum!- Yes, even the silencer, the mudguards and the chain enclosure. The front and rear bodies are bolted to the engine.
Bart Crauwels is not only a great rider, but also an excellent motorcycle engineer with real passion. He designed and builds (and sells) a quite simple, but very efficient kit for those who don't like the clattering of modern Ducati dry clutches.
This is his brainchild too, a 1000cc Ducati V twin with the horizontal cylinder supercharged by the vertical one feeding compressed air in a pressure reservoir. Admission pressure is a constant 2 bar; so far 112 Nm torque and more than 100 hp. Feels like a 1000cc big single, yet revs far beyond 10.000 rpm!!

Fitting engine to frame (correct: frame to engine..) is a lot easier without the front cylinder and head
