Happy New Year! And happy birthday Drupal, and congratulations to everyone that worked to make the 5.0 release of Drupal awesome! We're going to be celebrating all of these in our monthly Drupal meetup on Wednesday, January 24th, at the Science Club (1136 19th Street, NW). We'll be in the basement again and will be throw a heck of a party. We'll of course tie some presentations into the fun.
We'll start at 7 pm with $3 Yuenglings and shortly after get some presenations started. The schedule is open so you have something to present or want to nominate someone else, we're all ears. As of now, we're thinking there will be lots of talk about Drupal 5.0 and stories about how upgrades are going. Come to share and absorb.

SlingshotSMS is a lightweight SMS server that runs on a USB drive, turning any laptop into an SMS relay hub. People can text the cell phone connected to your computer and SlinghshotSMS processes and then 'pushes' the SMS messages up to a site (like a Managing News site) where the SMS can be parsed, geotagged, and visualized in real time. The project is open source and in active development.
Here is a little SMS Drupal module that Jeff just built for SaveROE.com's new SMS campaign. This module plugs into Mobile Accord's API and allows for opting into the campaign via a web form. Essentially it is the online component to their short code campaign.
It's cool because it works on a node by node basis - meaning that we can run multiple campaigns with different campaign IDs and short codes off the same site.
Still some cleaning up to do - we need to have path aliasing working and need to upgrade it to 4.7 and 5.0. Once that is done we will get this into CSV as soon as possible. Right now it is a good test :).
Aron Novak has been hard at work building a new and improved aggregator module for Drupal as part of Google’s Summer of Code. The FeedAPI module has all the good features of existing aggregator modules and has an API so it can be easily extended.
