Day 87/365

How's this for a post card image? after having already spent a good portion of time in doors; either for conference meetings or just plain old lounge lizarding, I took a walk around the complex that is the MGM Grand. The place is frickin' huge!!!!!!!

I got to see quite a bit in my little lunch time jaunt; a brand new Rolls Royce Phantom Drop head Coupe, various street performers including Big Elvis.

This is the walk that really made me realise the exact gong show that I had walked into. Also, it was damn hot!!!!! I went from snow to blistering heat in the Nevada Desert.

Seen somewhere in the East Village, New York. I waited around for a couple of minutes to see if any overweight babies would be dropped off, but I left disappointed....

From a mini workshop I presented on high speed photography. This is just as the crown of the drop is collapsing. Also did these a few years ago.

Not particularly impressed with the fisheye lens, but it catches this quite well in that the top is the wall towering over me and curving round both sides.

23.4.2010

Me and Joonas tried to do the Corrie Whites (www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwExpFDUC9Y) and it turned out very successful. We used Nikon D80 with NIKKOR 55-200mm, and put it on a tripod about 1m away from the black water bucket.

Behind that bucket we put papers of different colors and the flash (Speedlight sb-900) reflected the color on the water so it made the water and drops look vivid. Above the dish we put a plastic bag filled with water and pinked it with a pin so the drops dropped from it steadily to the same spot.

Please feel free to ask for details!
