Jackson, Pennington and Shannon Counties, SDBadlands National Park (Lakota: Makȟóšiča) is a national park in southwestern South Dakota that protects 242,756 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles, and spires blended with the largest undisturbed mixed grass prairie in the United States. The park is managed by the National Park Service.The Badlands Wilderness protects 64,144 acres of the park as a designated wilderness area and is the site of the reintroduction of the black-footed ferret, the most endangered land mammal in North America.The Stronghold Unit is co-managed with the Oglala Lakota tribe and includes sites of 1890s Ghost Dances, a former United States Air Force bomb and gunnery range,and Red Shirt Table, the park's highest point at 3,340 feet (1,020 m). Authorized as Badlands National Monument on March 4, 1929, it was not established until January 25, 1939. It was redesignated a national park on November 10, 1978

various paths to try some harder than others but none that are hard to walk with proper footware. can get a bit wet on low level path.
I have to welcome my very first Tate to my collection. When I saw him, I didn't even hesitate to email my dealer as quick as I could. Tate Tanaka is foine.
drop dead, gorgeous. reallllly intimate show. i swear no more than like 30 kids were there,(maybe less) it was amazing, and truly were reallly nice about me taking pics :)
red paint meets water pretty much i took it for a project on water and its flow and found the effects given in these methods worked well to portray it on paper.

Since it was pouring with rain today...
This is: Nikon D300 and Sigma 150/2.8 on a tripod, a wine glass full to the brim with water - the glass is standing on a clear glass cutting board and under the board is some blue card. The cutting board is to stop the card becoming sodden. At the back is some black card about 18 inches behind the glass. The SB-900 is camera right and high, triggered by Elinchrom Skyports, in manual mode at between 1/8 and 1/16 power.
The camera is also in manual at between 1/125 and 1/200 sec with an aperture varying from f11-f16.
Focusing: focus on a knife (and then a biro which was easier), then switch to manual focus and set the camera to fire whenever the shutter is depressed. In this case I am using a remote release so I can lean over and release the water.
Drops: Either from a Bic biro case - but it was hard to release just one drop - or from the edge of a knife.
The tiny fibre inside the water droplet is rabbit fur from our two lop rabbits who were hopping around me as I took these pictures.

Nearly SOOC. I noticed the rain drops in the background once I downloaded this to the computer, and I was tempted to make them more obvious. Thankfully, I decided not to do it :)

I got a great book from the library today called 'In the Blink of an Eye" by John Brackenbury. An amazing collection of high speed macro photographs. He has some shots of water drops from under the surface of the water, so of course I thought "hmmmm...."
These are my attempts.
