62245 is the newest addition to the trainer fleet in Leicester.
It started life in Edinburgh in 2001, before moving to Aberdeen in 2004. Then by 2015, it had moved down to Somerset and put into the Buses of Somerset livery, which it carried until earlier this year, before moving up here.
It was replaced by Leicester’s B7RLEs in 2020.

Sunderland bus 13’1-TY4418 was a Thorneycroft 26-seater, originally supplied to independant operator W Ankers of Winlaton-on-Tyne in April 1928. Sunderland bought it from Ankers in November 1929 for the grand sum of £325 for use as a driver training vehicle. DurIng May 1935 it was transformed into a 29 seat coach but in February 1941 it was requisitioned as an ARP mobile canteen. It was returned to the Corporation by February 1945 and promptly sold off to Hetheringtons of Gateshead, who kept it till December 1946 then sold it to be converted into a caravan. Charles Hopkins, the Sunderland General Manager, had operated Thorneycroft buses in his previous position at Wigan and he did buy some service vehicles for Sunderland but number 13’1 was Sunderland’s first and last Thorneycroft bus.

Seeing clearly now the rain has gone!
Now the rain has cleared I took the opportunity to slip over to Moore Park to check progress. I'll let the photos speak for themselves, and, there was a veritable parade of trams to snap!
