Around 50 train drivers from different provinces assembled today in Misr Station, Ramses, shortly after 12 noon. The drivers denounced the results of the morning meeting held with the management, and threatened to block the 2pm Turbini train (the same one that was stopped the previous year).
The state-owned Railway Authorities told the drivers’ representatives that their demands to raise the incentives from 11pt to 25pt per kilometer, were rejected.
Following the protest, and the threat to block the trains, the chief of police in station negotiated with the drivers, who only suspended their assembly around 1:40pm, awaiting the results of another meeting promised by the govt on 24 November.
The drivers threatened to launch a strike on 25 November if their demands are not met.

There are different ways to get around on 6th St. Austin Texas. One of them are Pedicabs. They are like taxicabs, but they pedal your way around 6th St and surrounding areas. Meet Merrick, a pedicab driver, who is always out on 6th St on the weekends, waiting to pedicab people around.

Sadly a little out of focus and again shot through the cracks in the fence. Here we see the last of Chittenango's Carpenter Corsairs around the time of their retirement. Note that the emergency door was on the driver's side, right about in the center of the bus.
The district had four more of these- numbers 77 & 78 which were 1971's and numbers 81 & 82 which were 1972's, all on GMC rear engine chassis. Prior to the Carpenters, the district had many Superior Super Cruisers (61 & 73 passenger versions) on both GMC and International chassis. I remember the last of them lined up in front of the garage in the summer of 1983 but I didn't get any pictures.
In the background, you can see some of the "short buses" lined up.
The steel hood Loadstar 1703 is bus number 80, a 1971 or '72 30 passenger Superior bodied bus.
Next to it is what I believe was a Superior Pacemaker on either a Ford or GM chassis of 1981 or '82 vintage which would have been bus number 106.
Then there is another International Loadstar 1703 or 1803 with the fiberglass tilt hood and a 30 passenger Superior body. If it is a standard bus, then it is number 97. If wheel chair equipped then it was 98. Both were V8 gas powered with Allison automatics. These were both 1977 vintage.

This is a beat-up, second generation Camaro in Leschi with no tabs, my youngest and I spotted it on a long walk after school. When I was a kid, I went through a phase where I sketched a lot of 1980s era IROC Z28s, haha! However, in my increasingly advanced age, I've yet to own a "cool" car or even a pickup truck.

This week, my oldest started driver's training, five weeks of classes. We also applied online for his learner's permit, which I had no idea was a thing. Believe it or not, any random fifteen year old in Seattle can operate an automobile with the simple mouse-click of an icon. This seems like more than a minor insanity, to me!
It's not that I don't think my son's ready to at least start practicing. I'm confident he'll ultimately grow into a careful, considerate driver. He's very smart, mature and polite for his age. Still, you always worry a little about executive function when it comes to teenagers. We live in a neighborhood with some of the steepest streets in the city and there are no stop signs at a lot of intersections. I figure, if he can drive competently here, he'll be fine. I'm not sure he's going to experience the same thrill of independence or freedom that I did, when I earned my automobile license. I grew up in the boondocks, miles from anywhere, while he already has the luxury of taking the bus or train by himself. We live in the middle of town, he rides Metro home from school. Some days, he eschews the bus ride for a long walk.
He drove us to his school, this morning. He did quite well. I was reminded of my early teens when I'd drive my dad around on dirt roads, in the Monte Carlo, while he sat in the front passenger seat, sometimes he'd be nursing a beer while I crept along at ten miles per hour. Needless to say, I will not be having a beer while I take my son out for driving practice. There's something about letting one of your babies get behind the steering wheel that reminds you how potentially dangerous or lethal the act of operating a motor vehicle is: To pedestrians, bicyclists or the occupants of said vehicles.

I was pleaseantly surprised when I looked at it again (see previous picture) eighteen years later - on 21 April 2015 - to find a shot is still on there. This time it was 90036 & 90026 descending the bank heading 4M25, the 0606 Mossend - Daventry intermodal.
