3 hours after the blue hour photo was taken and I was not consciously trying to duplicate the earlier shot.
I just liked those clouds that appeared out of nowhere.
This is a 5 shot HDR, natural processing.
For those interested I make the following tally:
2 no. Hoegarden bottles
3 no. Corona Extra bottles (one is flat down)
6 no. John Smith cans
Looks like someone was having a really good time before I got there.
In case anyone is curious, the whiskey is Glen Moray Single Malt Scotch (which is delicious, BTW), and the wine is Arbor Mist Pink Moscato (I very seldom drink moscato unless I have dessert, but I wanted something cheap tonight), nice way to close the day.
And as always, drink responsibly, everyone!
Something that I posted on my old Instagram page as well as my blog. Hope you like it.
What better way to end the Summer season than this little tropical concoction that’ll make Jimmy Buffett smile. I call it Summer’s End, more than likely Webtender has a mix similar to this, but if it doesn’t, here’s the ingredients, hope you like ’em!
First, you’re gonna need two shakers:
Shaker #1:
2 oz. Rum
2 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Gin
Chopped strawberries and orange wedges inside.
Shaker #2:
2 oz. Orange Juice
2-3 oz. Cranberry Juice
One orange slice for garnishment.
Shake both shakers simultaneously and pour both into a tall glass. Enjoy!
Makes 1-2 servings.
And remember to drink responsibly as always!

Endorsed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This brand of tequila is the smoothest one yet! For years I was not a tequila fan (yet I drank margaritas for decades now), but as I got older my tastes for alcohol has changed a lot. Years ago, cognac, rum, vodka were my spirits of choice (this was back in the 1990s), and I’m beginning to get into spirits like gin, tequila, and my top favourite, scotch whiskey (I’ve always referred to Scotch as the “pastime of the gods”), but that’s just my take on it. But I’m just expanding my taste buds as far as spirits (liquors, that is) are concerned. A huge majority of liquors I have had mixed with something, but I very seldom had most of them by themselves which I’m begging to appreciate more of. So after leaving my comfort zone, my tastes in spirits have expanded as of late. But I’m loving tequila, very smooth, made from agave plants, and I’ve had some rough tequilas, but this was by far the best of them all! And it ain’t cheap either! But again, the smoothness of it speaks for itself. If you haven’t tried it yet, I guarantee that you’ll love this drink. I endorse this drink, and as always, DRINK RESPONSIBLY!
I’m not much of a drinker nowadays (which is one of the reasons why I haven’t posted any booze shots as of late). Anyway, the wife and I was recently on a dinner date, and we had a nice steak dinner. I wasn’t gonna drink anything originally, but wifey wanted to have something with our dinners. She had a pineapple mojito, I had a dry martini, shaken, not stirred (sounds familiar, anyone?). It was delicious, the olives made it just as tasty, I think they used Bombay Sapphire (one of the best gins made) and a (very) dry vermouth. I used to make these religiously back in the day (mostly vodka) , but those days are long gone for me, and I’m cool with that, y’all. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves. And as always, drink responsibly! One last thing, the beverage on the left is a mix of ginger ale and cranberry juice.

For YEARS I’ve been wanting to try out this brand. Needless to say, mission accomplished! I’ve never had Claret before, despite its popularity in the movies. Even in one of the Bond movies 007 has had it at least once. Francis Ford Coppola being one of my favourite directors has put out his brand of wine in the late 2000s, and it’s been my aim to try one out. And guess what, already I’ve been stockpiling on it (as well as a few other wines and spirits), and in recent years, I’ve gotten more into collecting various drinks rather than imbibing them. I may sample some, and save the rest, or I just won’t consume it at all, or save it for a special occasion. The Claret is delicious, I drink my wines either at room temp, or chilled depending on the occasion. I’m eager to try the white wines down the road.
Something I’ve done some years back. The whiskey can serve as a medicinal ointment in case of a gash, cut or scratch. It actually works!

This world famous drink is made of 12 years old Dimple Blended Scotch Whisky, Cascade Dry Ginger Ale and a few organic orange slices. The glass is Iittala Ultima Thule designed by Tapio Wirkkala, inspired by the melting ice in Lapland, Finland.

The makings of a third-world dirty Mojito ala Mondo.
The Story
A year ago I did not know how to make this cocktail. Mojitos were a favorite of Hemingway when in Havana and currently quite popular here in the states. This is a sweet and refreshing Cuban beverage infused with the essence of fresh lime, mint & rum. I wanted to serve these at a garden party last year, stocked the bar outdoors and printed a recipe found online at the last minute (don't do this!). Gave it a go, first batch horrible as my guests told me. A friend from the Virgin Islands commandeered the bar, this is how we make Mojitos in my country... Mes homage to Judy; no finer teacher for all things Caribbean.
The Preparation
This recipe looks complicated; it really is not. I will confess, it is a bit labor intensive though. Make up a batch of simple syrup in advance; bring 4 cups of water to a boil; add 2 cups of sugar; reduce heat simmer a tad & stir; decant & chill. Stock bar as pictured above; only one type of sugar is required; white or brown your choice. I use organic cane sugar.
The Drink
For each Mojito you will need:
1 tablespoon sugar
6 - 8 fresh spearmint leaves; large to medium
1/2 fresh lime cut in quarters
2 ozs. (60 mls.) simple syrup
1.5 ozs. (45 mls.) - 2.0 ozs. (60 mls.) white rum - 80 proof
Club soda
Ice
Place the sugar and mint leaves at the bottom of a tall tumbler. Crush the mint into the sugar using a muddler or the back of a spoon. For a dirty Mojito, muddle well so that the pieces of mint are very small. Add the simple syrup; stir well. Squeeze lime quarters into glass; drop the limes into the mix. At this point I mix well, pushing down on the lime with a spoon, extracting more juice and some of the oil in the rind. Add white rum mixing well again. Fill glass to the rim with ice; top off with club soda to the brim. Stir well; garnish with fresh sprig of mint if you like; serve immediately.
Serving with a straw provides an even sweeter experience as some of the granulated sugar collects at the bottom of the glass. The finished result should look like this. For a clean Mojito, simply strain the mixture over ice. Each drink contains 250 calories!
* Fresh spearmint is readily available; I grow several varieties and my favorite for this beverage is called "Mint, the Best." Other good choices are "Mint Julep" and "Kentucky Colonial Mint". The fresh mint sold in most American supermarkets is usually a type of spearmint so you are taking your chances if you don't grow the mint yourself. DO NOT use peppermint or any other flavored mint. Spearmint only por favor.
The Reputation
If you drink three of these, and hang out on a garden swing at night - you WILL hallucinate. You've been warned.
Additional note: This is not crystal clear type of mojito you might find at a hotel or nightclub. Oh no, this beverage is awash in more particulate matter than a Haitian sewer.
