Statesman - William Ewart Gladstone Statue, Hawarden Village, Flintshire. This statue was commissioned in 1910 for the city of Dublin but work on it was delayed by WW1 and the statue was never erected. After the Easter rising of 1916, the city if Dublin refused to have the statue in their city and it was finally erected in 1925 in the grounds of Gladstone's prime ministerial library in Hawarden village in Flintshire, near Gladstone's home which was at Hawarden Castle. Gladstone served four terms as Prime minister in the C19th. Around the plinth are figures of Erin (to represent Ireland) and other figures representing classical learning and finance.
Andre Phillip is one of the most famous kitesurfers on the planet and he hails from little Antigua. I taught his ass at this same spot way back when he was still windsurfing. He's taking a break from windsurfing to show the world how kitesurfing should be done. hahahaha
